Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One Printer, Scanner and Copier

2 Answers

I think I have clared the paper jam but when I ffed paper back in, one copy comes through clear, then the nexy one stops mid-way and the jam indicator comes on again. Sometimes in this process, several pieces of paper feed through at once. I only know how to open the top...is there a way to open the back to check for little jams?

If you look at the back, there is a plastic guard that prevents your paper from going right out the back of the printer. Remove the guard by pushing it to the right and out. Take some compressed air and blow out the printer from the back.
If you have broken sprockets on this printer you've lost the battle with this model. You may have broken sprockets if you pulled a large stack from the front. It cannot survive that action from our experience. Always pull paper out slowly one sheet at a time they recommend. There should be a burial ground for PSC1610's somewhere in this world.....We've killed 2 already.

4TH LIGHT FROM THE TOP KEEPS COMING ON LEXMARK E232

What this light sequence means that the printer has a paper jam.

When a paper jam occurs, the printer stops and the operator panel's Paper Jam light and Continue button lights come on. Press and release Continue twice quickly to display the specific secondary error paper jam light sequence.

How to clear Paper Jam

Press Continue button twice quickly to see the secondary error code.

To get the secondary error codes

When the Error light (!) and Continue button lights are both on, a secondary error has occurred.

When the Paper Jam light (4th light) and Continue button lights are both on, a paper jam secondary error has occurred.

Press and release Continue button twice quickly to display the secondary error code light sequence.

Press Continue button to resume printing once all the jammed pages are cleared from the paper path.

We recommend that you clear the entire paper path when a paper jam occurs.

To clear a paper jam:

1 If you are feeding paper from a tray, remove the tray, and then remove any jams.

2 Open the front cover and remove the print cartridge assembly.

NOTE: Do not leave the print cartridge assembly exposed to direct light for an Extended period of time. Extended light exposure can cause print quality problems.

3 Remove any jams in the area behind the print cartridge assembly.

4 Lift the flap at the front of the printer and remove any jams beneath the flap.

5 Open the rear exit and remove any jams.

6 After you have cleared the jams, reinstall the print cartridge assembly, make sure all printer covers and trays are closed, and then press Continue button to resume printing.

NOTE: The printer reprints the pages that caused the paper jam.

When i try to copy, paper goes into the printer and gets stuck mid way followed by error message "paper jam, clear ...". If i press the okay button again, the paper is ejected out.

Make sure the access panel/bar at the back of the printer is fitted in properly.
If you have removed it to clear a jam, it may not be seated properly.
Try to see if perhaps some paper is stuck in the rollers, or maybe your rollers are sticky
.
Use correct weight of paper - it does not really like card stock that much.
Make sure Junior has not shoved a pencil into the printer tray, etc.
Let the panel know if you were able to clear the jam and how you did it.

Hi. The error message shown as paper jam cleared a) not fully b) not carefully and there is any paper fragment or a whole page remained yet. The sensors are perceive the paper in the paper way, so there are any dirty thing or paper fragment. Read again the user manual, section of paper jam carefully and try to clear out again.

Clear carriage jam -hp d7460

Carriage jam usually comes from ink on the clear encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage. You need a damp Q-tip to clean from one end to the other, The other thing, on the HP is the cleaning station on the right gets gummed up with old ink and won't go toward the back fully, stopping the carriage.

the paper jam is more than likely in the fuser assembly. unfortunately you will need a service tech to come out and fix that issue.

Paper stopping but not really a jam

I am assuming you have checked the paper feeder traying isn't part feeding?

Check the internal unit closest to the toner drum, sorry this is not specific advise for the Minolta fuser unit. You are looking for a lever that slides out revealing the paper it has collected from internal jams - Usually the lever is to the side just above or below the toner unit.

If this doesn't work check the paper loading tray(s)

Solution one: Clear the jam from the back of the All-in-One Follow these steps to clear a paper jam from the back of the product. Step one: Remove any loose paper Remove any loose paper from the input tray. CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Step two: Clear the jam from the back CAUTION: Always clear paper jams through the back door if possible. To avoid tearing the paper and damaging the print mechanism, pull paper from the product slowly and gently. Avoid touching the internal components of the product.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Remove the rear door. Push in the two release tabs, and then pull the door toward you.

False jam indicator

I had almost the same problem but the problem that I had was that after running 5 or more copies it would show a jam with no paper anywhere. And the only way to clear the jam was shutting the machine off and turing it back on.
What I found out was that the gate (flag) on the fuser unit was heating up and the gate (flag) was sticking a bit. (Plastic that close to the fuser isn't the best design)
Anyway, the only way to resolve this problem was replacing the fuser that had a new gate (flag) already installed.
You can replace the flag by itself also.
The way to see if your machine has the same problem, is if you get a jam and you open the right side door, push the black gate and see if it moves a little bit. If it was stuck then your machine is doing the same as mine was.
Good luck.
Hope this helps.

PAPER JAMS

Does the fault clear when you open/close? If it does you probably don't have a jam.
Does the machine begin to try to make copies, then stop-if so it has probably failed to feed off the tray, hence the jam message. If this is the case, pull out the paper tray, check for obstructions, clean feed rollers and try again. Are there "skid marks on the paper(indicating the rolls have turned?) If so rolls could be dirty/worn. If no skid marks, can you determine if the rolls did in fact turn? Go from there
