Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I recently set the unit to record a 30mins programme, plus following episodes. What happened is the recording froze part way through and now all I get when switching on the TV is the frozen picture. I am anuable to get any DTYv channels, only 2 analogue channels. I am unable to access any list of recorded progs. I am unable to make anything happen. I can access the main MENU but am unable to get the Start-up to run and reset. What to do (apart from whacking it with a big hammer) ?

    Yes, thanks very much - done, all now OK. I has wrongly assumed that normal switch off at set would allow clean start.

Try the following;

Disconnect the unit completely from the mains for 30 minutes. Power up and check if the issue is resolved.

If not please supply the exact make and model number of the unit.

Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Planned recordings dissapear library ok also series does not work

How about some more info.

All recordings, or just some? Planned?

Most DVRs default to look for the program on the channel you found it when you initiated recording, so if you initiated a recording for Law And Order SVU from USA but asked for only new episodes, since new episodes show on NBC, you won't get any. So make sure you are setting up a recording from the channel you want to record it from, in the format you want to record it (New, reruns, all, HD, SD, etc.)

Depending on your service and receiver, signal quality may also be stopping your recordings. For instance, you have DirecTv and you never have service when it rains, it also just happens to rain in your town whenever Modern Family airs. Just your luck.

And, it could be that you are trying to record a show that is an OnDemand or streaming only show, like Orange is the New Black (on Netflix). Waiting around for an episode to air will never happen because they are an On Demand service.

GDB1225DTfreeview+DIgitalTV Recorder.

Check your schedule
This happens if you've asked the box to record more than on episode
For example on Channel A , channel A + 1 and Channel B that shows same program at a different time

Grundig GUFSDTR500HD FreeSat PVR Problem

Hi There, I've never had this problem with my Sky box, it knows which programs are repeats. I suspect its a problem with the GUFSDTR500HD. I have had two of these boxes from Costco, and both have both been as buggy as hell. They have recorded random programmes, they have missed recording programs, they often crash (black screen), series link seems to get it's knickers in a twist, and the up and down directional buttons fail to work after coming out of the guide or menu screen. To top it off, I found that the remote control also interferres with my B&Q fireplace... cycling through the colours when I change channel. Both of these boxes have gone back to Costco and I will never touch another Harvard Group (previously Alba, including Bush/Goodmans/Grundig) box again. Back to sky HD for me!

My thomson DTI6300 digital TV recorder shows that it is recording but does not stop at the required time. No recording is actually made and the message comes up ''recording failed''. This happens whatever...

If you have no recordings and it's playing up, I'd do a complete reset as follows;

Restore Factory Defaults
This will restore all the factory settings and erase the contents of the box.

Format HDD
This will re-partition and re-format the hard drive.

This will wipe everything you have recorded. It will also dump your 14 day Electronic Program Guide which will take upto a day to reload. Leave the unit on standby.

You might want to take this opporunity to do a channel scan as well.

when you select "new episodes" it will record ALL episoded that have not been recorded already. ALL episoded will record every time the show comes on. as far as then 134 hr recording, it sounds like a manual timer error i would erase it and monitor progress to see if it does it again.

Panasonic DVD recorder

A self-check for these models can sometimes last for 3-7min's (sometimes longer) depending on how much recorded data is on your hard drive. Plus it checks all unrecorded space on your hard drive as well. Don't forget that it must check 200Gig. If it self checks for longer than 20-30mins turn off at the wall and let cool down. Try again in an hour or so and it should rectify itself. If it continues to self-check for longer than 20-30mins refer your machine to an authorized technition
