Question about Dell E773C 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Screen Resolution Hey I was wondering why I can't get my screen resolution to even 800 x 600. I have tried everything! I don't have the net at home so there is no way of going onling for upgrades.

It sounds more like a graphics driver issue than an issue with your monitor.
If you have onboard video then you need to know the make and model of your computer/mobo and get the drivers from the vendors website.
If you have a stand alone graphics card you will need to know the make and model# of the card and get the drivers for it.
You don't have internet at home so you should write down the info you need and bring it somewhere you can get on the net and burn a cd. go to the vendors website to dload the appropriate drivers copy them over to the cd and then bring them home on the disk and install them.
Hope this was clear

Monitor just says out of range no matter what I do, I have switched the cords already

When a monitor is out of range it means that the computer is set up to a resolution that the monitor cannot handle

what you need to do is turn on your computer and tap F8 repeatably untill you confront a screen asking you what you want to do

you want Safe Mode with VGA

this will start windows in Safe mode (default settings for everything) and will set the resolution to 800x600 (smallest resolution supported by everything) when you are at the desktop you can just change the resolution of your screen normally

Windows Vista/7
right click the desktop > Screen resolution

Windows XP/98 etc
Right click the desktop > properties and it will be in there somewhere (don't have an XP machine in front of me sorry)

I have a Windows 7 home premium computer using a 1280 720 screen resolution. This is the recommended settings and everything looks right, shapes aren't distorted and such. But i installed Service Pack...

try to auto adjust with your monitor if possible or try a different resolution to see what works better
beyond that you may wanna try to rollback your display adapter's driver

My resolution is lower than the software that i want to install in my computer..i want to know how to increase its resolution.what can u help about it

Hi, welcome to FixYa.

I assume you use netbook, right? Try this to increase resolutions on your netbook:

or this (similar):

You can also do it using this software:

I had turned the computer off in order to correct another problem, and when the computer came back on, my FONTs are very large, Icons and the inside programs as well. How can I change it back to normal?

From your description it sounds like your screen resolution changed on you. To change just right click on a blank spot on the desktop or control panel - display. Then click on the setting tab (right side top) and on this page in the middle should be display settings with a slider bar. Just move that to the right to increase the resolution. 1024 by 800 or higher is probably what you want. The actual number depends on the monitor your have. On my older lcd I use 1280x1024 as an example. The higher the resolution the smaller and sharper everything looks. The sharper it is the easier it is on your eyes. So you should go as high as you can which is usually limited by being able to read whats on the screen. ;-]

Font size much too big on the screen

By "font", do you mean everything is large on the screen, including icons, and menus?

If so, your screen resolution might be set very low.

To increase the resolution (and subsequently decrease the size of everything displayed)...

Windows XP
1.) Right-click on the desktop and choose "properties".

2.)Choose the "Setitngs" tab.

3.)Slide the "Screen Resolution" slider towards "more"(the right) and click "Apply"

4.)Your screen will flicker and test the new resolution. If you like what you see, Click "Ok". If you do not, or your screen remains black, you can wait 15 seconds, and your screen will revert to it's previous resolution.

Windows Vista
1.) Right-click on the desktop and choose "Personalize".

2.)Choose the "Display Settings"

3.)Slide the "Resolution" slider towards "high"(the right) and click "Apply"

4.)Your screen will flicker and test the new resolution. If you like what you see, Click "Ok". If you do not, or your screen remains black, you can wait 15 seconds, and your screen will revert to it's previous resolution.

Hope this helps.

Dell M922 monitor problem

To change the resolution back to something more reasonable go to the control panel (start, settings, control panel) and double left click on the Display icon. Click on the settings tab. The color quality should be set a high as possible, usually 32 bit or true color. Then click on the Advanced button in the lower right corner and on the next screen click on the Monitor tab. In the Monitor settings make sure the Screen refresh rate is set between 70 and 75 Hertz (the higher the number the less obvious the screen flicker will be but don?t set any higher). Click on the OK button to go back to the previous screen. Once that is set you want to increase the Screen Resolution using the slider bar to the left. For a 19? screen you would want to set it to a minimum of at least 1024 x 768. The typical setting is 1280 x 1024 depending on monitor / video card capabilities and personal tastes. Once you get the resolution back to the original settings your screen will display as it did before the ?change?. If you find another resolution setting you like better we?ll need to make some adjustments to the monitor itself. Just let us know. Ordinarily screen resolution changes doesn?t just happen, it?s usually the result of a program, user or problem. If that is the case you?ll need to post anther question along with details about what is happening just before the change occurs along with your operating system and any other pertinent information.
