Question about RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone
Don't do something or try to open your Blackberry phone. As you know, the circuitry of such cellphones are sensitive. I suggest that bring your unit to a Blackberry service center near you.
However, you may do this simple troubleshoot, turn off your unit, then remove the battery and install it back. This is one way of resetting or booting the system.

Cleaning the track ball on blackberry phones. Remove the metal ring then the ball mechanism remember how you removed it because it needs to go in the same way. You can also try removing the battery from phone taking a qtip with alcohol the higher the percentage of alcohol the better. and wiping and rolling the ball around even without removing it from the phone. this usually helps unless the ball is extremely dirty. Below are step by step ins for removing the ball. just follow the link

First how bad troubleshooting by manufacturer-sellers is! Not a word on this. Second, third and fourth, always use with case, no pockets, no bottom of bags; use with clean hands; and, clean very carefully with cotton swab mildly moistened with nail polish remover (from your favorite woman, mine gave me the idea), and then very carefully clean ball with it and wipe with dry swab. SOURCE: The ball won't scroll down
This is usually caused by the blackberry trackball getting dirty or gummed up!
Use a q-tip dipped in IPA and clean it. Roll the trackball around and swab the q-tip around to clean. Do this a few times until the q-tip stays clean.
If cleaning fails then you will need to replace the Blackberry trackball.
Check the following link on instructions on how to do that.

Most trackball movement problems can be rectified by cleaning the trackball. Try the following steps to see if it helps tp resolve the issue you are having;
1) Turn the unit off, open the back cover and pull the battery out,
2) Take a paper towel, dampen it with water...nothing else, making sure that the towel is only damp and not soaking wet,
3) Rub the damp paper towel on the trackball, over and over, making sure to rub up, down, side-to-side and every which way. This should clean the trackball and remove whatever is causing it to not move smoothly.
4) Wait a minute or two and replace the battery and cover. Once the unit has rebooted, try moving the trackball again. It should be better.
