Those numbers are for drill jobs or for screw / unscrew jobs. The higher the number the strongest power of the drill will do.Often for drill purpose the higher number is set to obtain the maximum power of the drill. But if you want to use to unscrew a, let say,a home minor job like unscrew or screw a wall hanging picture you can choose a number that fir the power you need to do it.

Makita cordless drill

It sounds to me like the clutch is set to a low setting. Its the dial just behind the chuck with the numbers on it, you can turn it to adjust how easily the drill slips, the purpose of it is to make it easy not to strip screws or drive them in too far. Just turn it to a higher number or all the way and it should work fine. The setting its on is whichever number is on top of the drill (opposite the handle), there should be a little arrow on the body of the drill pointing to it. The highest setting will not be a number but an image of a drill bit, in this setting it will not slip at all. Some of these drills are also hammer drills (as the drill turns, the chuck will also "hammer" in the direction your drilling, this is for drilling into concrete and things like that and requires a special bit (if your drill has that there will be an image of a little hammer on the dial next to the image of the drill bit). I hope that helps, Good luck.

Speed control switch

You can find an Authorized Service Center near you on Hitachi's website (www.hitachipowertools.com) to see if they have a switch to sell you. Another optioin is sites like www.ereplacementparts.com where ou can do a search on your model number and find your switch. They do have your switch available (PN 333640) for $38.70 +S/H.

I need two switches for my 19.2v kawasaki cordless drill

Hi klemm898,

Call All Trade at 800-423-3598. They have higher amp switches available for their drills. If that number can't help, call the number on your drill.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

My JCB 18V cordless drill is not working when you press the trigger. The battery is fully charged any ideas please.

It's probably the switch; mine judders and works kind of. Slight burning smell coming from it, dismantled it to discover that the switch has started to burn out, so far no luck finding a replacement.........

JCB are totally useless, no help from their support phone number!

How the cordless drill works in drill mode, especially how the clutch works in drill mode, please give the clear explanation with diagrams

the basic operation for the drill working in the drill only mode is you tighten the clutch up which puts more pressure on the spring not allowing the clutch to ratchet like it would in another position therefore bypassing the clutch completely. Give me the brand and model number and I will try and find a parts explosion for you.

Here is the diagram for the drill. I would replace the gearbox and dc control switch. But it may be cheaper to buy a new drill.

Part # of the Voltage Regulator in Dewalt Drill

The part number for the switch is 152274-19 . Dewalt doesn't sell the individual parts for the trigger assembly. It really depends on the manufacturer of the trigger at the time of production. You should be able to locate a company name on the side of the trigger switch assembly. It may be Marquardt. I am unaware of any way to order individual parts for these type switches. If you find a source please post.

The racheting sound is the result of the torque setting indicated on the dial before the chuck. Set the dial to the drill bit icon, or all the way past the highest number, and that locks out the torque control, and it will not ratchet
