Hi there!

The battery will run down, because there is no means of charging it.

Is an alternator fitted at the moment for lights etc? If so, you will need to measure the voltage from that, then connect to the battery to charge it.

If there isn't one, look for a motorbike alternator that will fit, or contact the manufacturers for a genuine part.

What to do when motorcycle will not start tipped over tries to start but wont fire up

How old is the battery? You need to check if the alternator is putting out a charge, is the regulator working. A dead cell in the battery will often show a full charge state if you try to charge it. When you try to start the bike the battery is required to give a high charge to the starter. The buzzing you hear is probably the starter solenoid trying to work. I would suggest fit a new battery and if the bike starts OK check out the charging system. 14.4 volts is the normal reading across the battery with the engine running at 5K.

Changed the battery in my 2006 yamaha r6 now it wont rev up

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

Yamaha XT660X Starting up problem, need help?

Hi, Mark before testing any electrical component in the Starter Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.

STARTER WONT STAY ENGAGED LONG ENOUGH TO START ENGINE - STARTS TO CRANK AND THEN SOUNDS LIKE IT's FREEWHEELING

Almost certainly a discharged battery ( have the battery fully charged ). - If that doesn't solve the problem then check the wiring connections to the starter motor, if they are loose or corroded they can overheat, also resulting in the symptoms you described. Tell me how you get on and Please leave feedback!!!!!
