I agree with first answer. They can fail, 9 out of 10 times it's the motor itself, us. A complete laser unit with the motor inside will be over $100. The LSU will black, trapezoid a glass **** in the bottom facing towards the drum unit, on top it will have a yellow sticker warning about laser light and eye damage. It may be easy to disassemble or have security screws. Inside is the polygon motor with a bunch of mirrors and lenses, keep your fingers off them. The mirror motor will be mounted on a small circuit board about 3 x4 inches. It has to go back exactly the same otherwise the prints will be skewed. The LSU is the Laser Scanning Unit or "printhead". There is a mirror in there that spins really fast, if the mirror spins too slowly (bad motor, low voltage) it gives an error. Sounds like you would need a replacement LSU. Have the printer serviced.

Your Laser unit at the top section where the paper exit is faulty. You have no choice but to change it.
