Question about HP (176135-630) (176135630) Internal 48x CD-ROM Drive

Dvd tray and cd tray won't open on hp pavillion a 250n

Push button and it makes noises but doesn't open. manually open and insert disk, it works fine and ejects when you push button. when disk is removed and door closes, it is locked again until you repeat the manual power off open and load.

i have tried disk management eject, new data cables, switch power cables, removal of most software other than operating system, uninstall and reinstall through device manager, etc.

this computer runs xp pro which was upgraded from xp home when it was new.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

My dvd drive is not recognizing any cd or dvd. it is since 1 and 1/2 months. even i cannot erite any dvd and cd. plz sir tell me some solution for it.

Make sure the light on the drive is coming on when you insert a disk. I am assuming that drive tray opens and closes when you press the button and that you are not opening the tray manually or forcing it open. Try to spray some compressed air into the drive with the tray open incase anything is interferring with the laser. Has anyone been inside the computer lately that may have disconnected a cable from the back of the drive? Not to be funny, but make sure you are inserting the disk right side up. You may just have to buy a new drive.

DVD tray will not go in

To verify there is nothing stuck in your drive, turn off your computer and try manually pushing the tray in GENTLY and feel if there is something blocking the tray moving. If there is nothing preventing the tray from moving manually push the tray in - start your computer and try it again. Use the eject function in windows explorer and try the retract button again. If teh button will not work try pushing the tray in manually again. Once the tray starts moving in it should automatically retract the rest of the way. If the unit will not retract on it's own by either method then the drive should be replaced.

You can manually eject the disk by inserting a straighten paper clip into a pinhole that is located in the front tray. Push the paper clip in until the tray pops out.

Won't open

Try this trick. it worked for me. Using a credit card insert it into the Tray opening to remove the front cover of the CD loader. then using 2 fingers push the tray inwards while pressing the eject button. Do this 3 to 5 times. If this does not fix your problem. Send it for repairs.
