This problem is cause by either your onboard soundcard or the speaker itself,

you should try to use and external speaker to check if its ok, if its ok, then probably your speaker is causing it, if not, then you should have your unit RMA.

check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Sound very distorted, new motherboard and speakers fitted.

If the sound is distorted on all sources over both speakers then the speaker amp on motherboard is suspect. To eliminate bad laptop speaker possibility, try hooking up another audio source to the audio output of the laptop and hear what happens. If they also sound bad then the mo bo is definitely the culprit.

Low output with high volume

sounds like distortion is being caused by trying to amplify a low volume level from the input device. try putting the ipod volume at a medium level and try again to see if the distortion goes away/reduced

are you going from the board to a 'mic' input, or a 'line input' on the Mac? you will need to attenuate the signal to a mic input. try reducing output from the board by 50% and reduce the input level on the Mac by 50%, and see if the distortion is lessened or eliminated. From there balance board output to Mac Input until you find what sounds good outta the Mac.

When connect power, Clip signal On and do not Sound Why this is?

Oversimplified, "clipping" is distortion. Clipping can damage speakers. You can reduce or eliminate clipping by reducing the amplifier's OUTPUT volume; or be reducing in the amplifier's INPUT signal. Excessive amounts of either can result in clipping.
Check out this video for a more in depth discussion about clipping. I hope this was helpful!

I have bought a used sharp mdmt888 when i play back minidiscs the sound is distorted, ive used a head cleaner but to no avail, the discs are fine on my hifi, could the head need replacing? Thanks.

Digital is an ON/OFF system. Head cleaning will not eliminate distortion. Nor will head replacement.
Most likely you are pushing a headphone output into a line-level input. Check your owner's manual and/or menu of output functions.
I need more informatrion. What are you playing the discs through - headphone or line? What is it going into? What does "the discs are fine on my hifi" mean?

Technics SL-PD888: Output signal is distorted/overdriven.

I can't find a manual. If it has both analog and digital outputs, compare both for sound quality and report the results. Also try them on different INputs of your electronics to eliminate that as a problem.

Let's examine THAT side, too. What are the components involved and how are they connected?

My BOSS Distortion(DS-1) pedal buzzes whenever the distortion is up. I've changed the battery, outlet, and amp, but it continues to sound. I tried a different pedal, and it worked fine. How can I stop it...

This sounds like a broken ground wire or trace within the unit if an IDENTICAL pedal does not act the same AT THE SAME SETTINGS.

Sometimes a circuit trace gets broken on the board inside pedals and can cause this.

Since an identical pedal doesn't have the problem, service is required.

If you know electronics you can open the pedal and look for obvious problems.

HINT: Use a bright LED penlight to "candle" the circuit board to look for cracks.

Look for broken solder joints... this can take an experienced eye to spot.

A distortion pedal NORMALLY is very simple circuitry.

KEF KIT100 Buzzing

You have a bad set of Audio output IC's for the sub. There is two of them. TDA7293 REPLACE BOTH!!!
There is 4 on one side of board, and 2 on other "also 1 small one" The the two are for the sub,the other 4 are for the main speakers/surround. They sell on Ebay for $6-10 each or a kit of all 6 for $25. I would replace all 6 on your system. To insure that the other's do not go bad after fixing the bad ones.

you need something called a "Line Output Converter". It will reduce the speaker level signal and is usually adjustable. Most car audio shops have them for about $20.
