Question about Panasonic Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Led flashing 3 times,

Hi
I have a rear projection tv that turns itself off as soon as you turn it on and the led flashes 3 times

From what i understand it seems like the convergence ics need replacing and im not sure if this model uses the stk392-110 ic.

The repairer wants to charge me $1200 to fix the problem, and tells me it is the power supply, but this doesnt fit with the led flashing 3 times

Is there any other idea to what this problem could be other than the ic's

Please post the make and model as each has their own blink code. I can provide more detailed info once I know the make and model.

Thanks,
Dan

Time to get a new TV. I have similar problem. In my case, the set turns off, LED blinking green for about a minute or 2, then the set will turn on by itself. Something the LED started to blink yellow after blinking green and then shuts off. I can turn it back on. This happens 3 or 4 times in an hour. After that, the TV stays on for as many hours as I want until I shut it off.
And then the problem repeats everytime I turn it on from a cold start.
I have my eyes on the 50 inch Plasma from Panasonic. Bestbuy has one for 999.99.

Mitsubishi VS-50705, 50 inch Rear projection TV won't turn on!

most of the time the convergance ic go bad:
but try this:
The 3 flashes of the led when you plug the unit in is the
microprocessor initializing.

This unit has an error code diagnostics.

On the front panel of the unit press and hold the INPUT and MENU
buttons at the same time and hold them down for about 5 or 6 seconds.
The unit should activate it's error code mode.

The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for
1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes.
The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.

You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed
is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is
the last number of the error code.

12 ----------- indicates no error
21 ------------- X-Ray Protect circuit
22 ------------ Short Protect circuit
23 ------------- Horizontal Deflection failure
24 ------------- Vertical Deflection failure

Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:

Q5A00
C557

If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.

If you are able to do above call a tech to service the unit

3 red blinks means th lamp door in not on. if you have installed the lamp door corectly and it still does this solder all three pins together on the door switch.
