Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV140 Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

WONT PLAYBACK The camera was working fine, and then all the sudden the camera will not playback or show time code of any sort when in VCR mode.  It won't show up on the computer when plugged in anymore as well.   We've tried everything we can think of with no luck.  We tried an old tape, a new tape, reseting, waiting, rewinding, fast forwarding, turning the camera on and off, looking in the menu, connecting it to the TV.  We have even tried to digitize the footage, but we have had no luck.  If anyone knows a way to fix it you would really save us. Thanks...

Canon 60D playback images turning up black

Did you switch to Tv (shutter mode) and took pictures for several seconds? like in the dark? Because saving the picture can take as long as the shutter time was.
Before panic. (Actually you never should panic) check your camera in automatic mode. And make sure you did not select any power save action, that puts your display on dark while shooting.
But always be sure your battery is charged and check its capacity. In the menu yo can check under the wrench symbol, when you select Battery info. Page 268 of the manual.
Working with a bad battery can damage the camera in the end.

Panasonic HVX200 will not play back tape

Your playback heads might be clogged. I am not sure if this camera with give you a RF warning if your record heads get clogged. Also most professional machines drums are rated at 1000 - 1500 hours before they need to be replaced. If you are at 500 and never cleaned the heads it is time to. Run a cleaning tape a few times.

in the end it was my memory card which suddenly went faulty.after formatting it, (see above added comment) it worked for some pictures then i switched to playback and this time it said memory card error and shut down. well if it would have said this in the first place would have saved a lot of trouble i almost threw the thing away.(the camera) so i puts a new card inside and its working like new, all the playback i can handle. goes to show its not always as bad as it looks with a little patience.....merci

No Sound

The camcorder may be in what may be called "narration mode." This function mutes the playback audio so you can narrate with you own voice when playing tapes back. Check for a function like this in the playback sound menu.

Playback function

Unless your an electronics expert, you run a very high degree (89-100%) of probability that the camera will never work again. If your cameras aren't under warranty, than call the canon north america offices, and explain the problem they will more than likely work with you considering this is a wildly popular problem with this specific model.
