SOURCE: drive belt slips on lawn tractor, cannot see an adjustment.

hi,

i would check with the owners manual to see if it shows an adjustment for the belt drive. most mowers today are equipped with a self adjusting arm witha pulley tensioner with a spring attatched to it. as the belt stretches the tensioner spring pulls against the arm causing it to apply tension to the belt thus tightening it. it sounds as if your belt is stretched beyond the limits of the tensioner. at least every new season it would be a good idea to inspect the belt tensioner for room or space of free play. that is to check to see if it will move opposite the pulley allowing the belt to tighten. if there is not enough sufficient room then i suggest replacement of the drive belt.

The drive belt on my husqvarna yth20k46 is off at the pulley above the transmission. How do I get it back on? Do I have to remove the nut at the transmission shaft?

I would remove the nut and pulley. Get belt top of pulley. Start the edge of belt in broove on pully and run it around. You get easyer belt in pulley and install it. May have pull little against spring.

It sounds like the transmission drive belt is slipping. When you pull the pedal back you are increasing the tension on the belt. You may also want to make sure the spring that pulls tension on the idler pulley is in tact. Hope this gets you in the right direction.

Drive belt

Sounds like u think someone has moved a pulley.
If not, u already know that the back of the v-belt, or flat side runs against flat pulley, most of the time just taking up slack.
The belt probably pulls over the top of the pulley with the back side of the belt rolling on it. Your drive and blade pulleys will keep it in line.
Where's the belt tinsion come from? Spring idler or slide adjustment?
Some times it takes some head scratching but u can figure this out.

Husqvarna yth20k46 - When turning transmission does not work

I only had my mower 3 months and that problem started. I was told to change the drive belt, It got worse. Now the transmission will only drive the mower for about 15 min and will come to a complete stop. I have to let it sit about 30 min before the drive will work again. No solution yet but I'm looking at replacing the "sealed" drive assy. I do have a very healthy yard of St Augustine which is tough. I can mow a thinner yard a little longer.n
