Why does it keep saying tray 1 is empty when its not?

Check the tray gears behind the try in question. With the tray removed from the printer and loaded with paper. Try to turn the rear lift drive gear. Does it lift the tray of paper?
if not check the gears closely. I suspect there broken, also look for fragments of plastic gear in the body of the printer.
if you have broken gears you might like to try shopping on the net for replacements.
Cheers,
Dave.

My Kodak printer wont grab the paper in the paper tray

Amandasplace:

There is a sensor that is located where the front edge of the paper sits when you load paper. If you take all of the paper out of the feed tray and use a flashlight to look in the throat of the paper feed area, you should see a small piece of plastic (in the shape of a blade) sticking up. If you do not see that sensor flag it may be broken off, or there may be a small piece of paper jammed against the sensor flag, keeping it from moving downward when you load the paper tray. That can happen if you pull a mis-fed piece of paper out of the machine in the opposite direction that the paper normally travels when printing. When you load the paper in the machine, it pushes that sensor flag down, telling the machine that there is paper loaded. either the sensor flag is broken off or there is something jamming the paper sensor, keeping it from being pushed down by the paper.

3110cn paper tray has small white plastic clip which has broken off on left side when pulling tray open. Now window states load paper tray. Any fix or where a paper tray can be purchased. Dell does not...

I've seen this problem before on Dell 3110/ 3115 and other versions of the same printer chassis.

The broken part prevents the paper being 'lifted' to the pickup roller and paper out sensor, so it thinks ther is no paper in the tray, and can't pick it up.

Look on 'the usual internet auction site' (as ever), and you'll probably find one (I'll list one in the next couple of days).

Paper will not feed Gestetner 5325

check the paper tray end stop ie the green tab that keeps the paper in the tray as these can come out or be moved.. when you load paper make sure the green tab is tight against the paper.. also the feed rollers might need replacing.. if you take the tray out and then look inside the opening to the right hand of the opening you will see some grey rollers or it may be one large roller this can be removed and cleaned.. the small type have a litle white clip holding in place.. if you have the large roller there is a plastic black lever towards the fron on the top right that has to be moved out to the front then you can remove the roller and clean..Good luck let me know if you need more info

you'll probably need a replacement paper tray. The sliders are fitted with small teeth to prevent them from moving. These teeth can break off meaning the paper size slider moves around too much and the paper sits back away from the feed roller and it doesn't get picked up correctly by the fed roller so resulting in a paper jam error

Canon PC770 - paper tray wouldn't slide in all the way

Thats right that spring help to counter balance the top,the pease of plastic is to keep the spring in place. There are 2 spings that support the top. That plastic is not so expensive but to install the new plastic and spring is a very big job and it can be expensive. It normally takes me 3 hours to replace. The mashine can work normally it is only a hassel when you want to replase the toner .

Keep getting an error message "202 Paper Jam Open Rear Door", cannot clear the message. We ordered a maintenace kit maybe 3 months ago.

If you can't see any paper stuck inside the printer when you open the rear door or when you remove the toner cartridge, the rear paper flag is either stuck or broken.
The flag is a small piece of plastic which sits at the rear of the fuser and as the paper exits the fuser it pushes the flag down. The easiest way to see this is to remove the rear door then the rear cover (two screws).
If it's broken you'll require a replacement fuser (i don't think you can get the part separtely), but if you have recently installed a maintenance kit, i would contact the supplier and ask for a replacement.

Blinking green light on 1 tray

You could have a faulty drive.
To open the tray, you need a paper clip, straighten it and place it in the small hole below the disc tray, push it in and the tray wull pop out slightly, remove paper clip and pull the tray fully out with your fingers.
Then try to close and open the tray with the push button, if it does not work you need to replace this drive with a new one.

Rx tray full remove paper

That is an easy one.
Look into the area where the paper comes out. You have to look toward the upper rear area rear area. There is a white plastic flag, about 2 inches wide and 1 inch in height.
On each side of it you will see 2 areas where the shaft snaps into, that flag has popped out of those clips and is not seeing the sensor making the machine think there is a piece of paper in the output tray.
Reach in and gently maneuver that back into position and carefully snap it back into place.
That is an odd shaped actuator you can't see, but with some patience you can snap it back into place. Maybe also gently take a pair of needle nose pliers and slightly tighten those clips that it snaps into. I suggest that with a lot of concern so that you do not snap the plastic clips, they are part of the frame that if broken would be expensive to replace. Use your discretion as to whether they need to be tightened. If it snaps back in and feels solid DO NOT try to tighten them please.
