If it won't connect then you may have a problem with the nuvi, the cable or the port. To nail down which one try connecting it to a different computer. All you are looking for is that it is recognized so you can try this on any machine that is handy. If that doesn't change anything then you need to check if the cable is good or bad. The best way is to just substitute a different cable. One way of checking without buying a cable is to call a computer store etc and ask if you can bring it in to see if the cable is good. You can try it on one of their computers and if that doesn't work you can try one of their cables. All you are doing is seeing if the computer sees the nuvi. As long as it knows something is there even if it doesn't know what to do with it thats ok. If it knows its there then we know the cables and nuvi are fine. If thats the case then the port of your pc may be the problem.

If the nuvo itself proves to be the problem then you would have to send it into Garmin itself for repair. You can update or add maps onto the sd memory card using a card reader on a laptop or desktop so as long as the unit is working and can find out where it is you still have options if you don;t want to send it in.

Geocache list doesn't show on gps

Basecamp is displaying the contents of the gpx file. This means you've correctly imported the gpx file into Basecamp.

A copy of the gpx file needs to be separately saved into the "GARMIN/GPX" folder on your GPS via USB and your computer. (Note: I believe your Oregon has the same file structure as my Garmin Montana).

On startup, your GPS will read the new data and display the caches.

Garmin shows picture of computer

Hello,

When the Garmin shows the picture of a computer, it means that the Nuvi is in mass storage mode. This mode is used to load software and map updates to the Nuvi and will usually go into this mode when connected to a computer or improper USB cable.
If this is occurring when it is connected to the vehicle power cable, chances are that the vehicle power cable is the wrong one.

My Explorist 210 does not connect with any computer. What can I do.

Hello,
What is happening is your computers are not recognizing your unit. Means you have to update unit via the registered site for updates.
Hello,

first Perform a hardware reset to return the minor settings of the GPS to the original condition. Press the small "Reset" button on the side of the unit for several seconds until it powers off and powers back on.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then it means you will have to perform a firmware upgrade to put the GPS back in order.

Download and install the Content Manager software available for free from the Magellan support website. Connect your GPS to your computer with a USB cable, and the software will automatically search for firmware updates for your GPS.

Here is support to copy and paste in your browser for Magellan.

My gsp only has a sd card no usb slot so how do i transfer the update to my gps Thanks

Depending on the type of GPS you have, you have a few options...

If the update instructs you to put the update files on the SD card, you need a means for your computer to access the SD card. This can be done by using an USB SD card reader, which can be picked up at your local electronics, digital photography store or online.

If you have another device that allows the transfer of data between a computer and the device (and it uses SD cards), you can put the SD card for you GPS into your other device, connect it to the computer through USB, and transfer the update files. For example, if your digital camera uses an SD card, you could put the GPS SD card into the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer.

Make sure you're updating correctly - sometimes the update is a file you run on your PC that in turn transfers files through a different means onto the GPS. Read the manual for your GPS for more information regarding transferring files onto the GPS and updating.

Was working fine this morning, then went to use it this afternoon and now when its loading up it shows a picture of the card coming out the bottom, then gets a red cross through it, or it comes onto the...

This is most likely dealing with the gps not being able to read the sd card. Try taking it out and cleaning off the gold connectors, and blowing into the slot where the memory stick goes. Then put it back in and turn the gps on. If it still doesn't work, then this means that the software on your gps system is corrupted and unreadable. You will need to update it/re-install the software on it. To do that, you can download this software which will automatically search for the latest updates: http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87
