SOURCE: Dell 1704 monitor goes to black screen after one

Hi my name is Rain.
Ok so that im clear on the problem. your monitor will come on but in a matter of seconds it goes to a black screen?
If this is the problem. The answers you seek will most likely
be in your video card.
Try this test:

  • Unplug monitor from the computer.
  • Turn on monitor .
  • Look for monitor self test screen.
If you see the monitors self test screen then your problem indeed is
the video card . You will need to replace the video card inside of the computer.

SOURCE: help, can't seem to get the USB ports on my

I had this problem a few weeks after I bought my Dell LCD monitor, so I was definitely within the warranty period. I contacted Dell through E-chat.http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R78777&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=103993
They suggested several rounds of fixes, etc. but finally agreed that the monitor was faulty and replaced it. They paid for all shipping. __________________dt

Usb ports do not work

I have a 24" Dell monitor with built-in USB and SD sockets. Sometimes I have had problems with these not being responsive. This usually comes down to electrical connection.

You should do these in order, also testing for USB port availability at each step .
#1 is the monitor powered up? (USB is active only when monitor is switched on with power button on front of bezel)
#2 check that the USB cable at both ends is plugged in! (you need electrical connectivity)
#3 check that the USB port on the PC can see another device like a memory stick

#4 check your PC's software (drivers must be loaded and the USB port recognized)

Help, can't seem to get the USB ports on my monitor to work again. I have the following dell monitor 1704fpt 17in. running windows XP Pro sp. 2

Since the USB ports on this monitor are just the powered USB Hub, you should try it with another PC if you know for sure that the USB port of the PC taht is feeding this Powered USB Hub on the monitor are OK, also check the cable.
The USB board replacement for thsi will not be woth it. Also check for 5vdc on PIN1 of the USB port.

My usb ports on the side of my Dell LCD monitor do not work

Did it work before? It may have lost 5vdc feeding the USB interface board or the USB IC may have gone out, Check to see if pin 1 of the USB has 5vdc on it.

Why don't the ports on the monitor work?

This monitor has 8-port USB hub that the USB input of the monitor must be connected to the PC USB port. There are fuses for the USB port also to protect the 5VDC output at the USB ports.
