Sounds like your set is out of focus
You have to take the back off
with the set running adjust the top control on the horizontal out transformer either up or down till the letters are OK.
it is the transformer with the lead comming out of the top which goes to the picture tube.

Only getting HD has nothing to do with a lamp change. I would start by seeing if your antenna settings got changed. For example from cable to over the air antenna. As far as the blurry words on the bottom of the display, I think you didn't get the screen lined back up all the way.
There are 2 things you try. go into menu to picture setup scroll down to sharpness, back this setting all the off. If this doesn't do it, go to back of the set on right hand side, if you can see focus slot adjust it slightly.
I have a hard time to vision that it is just the words, is the picture blurred also? If you are inclined, you have to take the back cover off. With a medium to small INSULATED screw driver you will see a big transformer that has a HIGH VOLTAGE lead going to the picture tube. There should be one or two black plastic screws on it (hence the insulated screw driver use) adjust one or the other to see if picture improves. Will not take much adjustment, but must take CAUTION as not touch the metal part of the screw driver, we are talking 15 to 32K volts. Naturally the tv has to be on to do this.
This sounds like you have the contrast setting too high, go to your menu and find the contrast settings, and adjust to your requirement. As for the words being blurry, this could be because your tv is HD ready, and unless you view a High Definition channel then the picture will be a liitle blurred.
Hope this is of some help?
You need service. Sounds like the convergence is out of adjustment. As the picture is formed by a tri- gun arrangement (one for each colour), if any of them is not correctly aligned, you will see shadows on any sharp line like text, or blurring on a picture. The shadow or blurring will often be one colour i e. red, blue or green.
If a standard TV has color splotches in 1 or 2 corners of the screen, it is possible that a large magnet, such as a large speaker, is or was near the set and has magnetized the picture tube. The set has a built-in degaussing coil but it is small and will only demagnetize small magnetic fields. Make sure there are no magnets near the set and if the colors are still off, have the picture tube demagnetized with a strong portable demagnetizer. As for the audio, when there are audio output jacks on the back of the set then there is usually an option to turn the speakers off. Some sets have a switch somewhere and some sets have a setting in the audio page of the on-screen menu. Look for a switch or go into the menu, navigate to the audio page and look for a speaker setting (ON / OFF) and make sure the speakers are set to ON.
You may have a defective dynamic focus circuit or or the Hi Voltage transformer. if your not a tech it is advised that you call in a trained tech as this is not a place for an experimenter to be. TO MUCH HI VOLTAGE and will make you cry if you live!!!!Good Luck
