For a while there was a whining sound - as if maybe a cooling fan motor wasn't working properly? finally the bulb must have blown, because now there's audio, but no picture. what do i need to do? new bulb? new bulb and new fan motor? technician needed or is this a do-it-yourself. i replaced the bulb once so if it's that level of repair, i can handle it.

Hello sir, hi, this requires that projector be checked, to fine the whining sound this requires disassembly, or have the unit checked for loose fan blades by a technician, and find that whining sound. If not replacing the bulb is useless, the bulb will always blow up.

Controls, heating and turntable function normally, but there is an intermittent failure (approx 80 of the time) where the interior light and blower do not function when the microwave is operating .

follow this test and fix it; God bless you
1)

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.
2)
  1. Exhaust fan motorIf your exhaust fan motor is not running, there are a couple of things that you can check involving the motor to locate the problem. After removing the fan motor, you can manually attempt to turn the fan blades with your hand. If the fan motor is working properly, the blades should spin effortlessly. If this does not occur and the blades are taught, the motor will need to be replaced. Secondly, the fan motor itself can burn out due to time and usage. Using an ohm meter, the exhaust fan motor should read open for continuity. If it does not, then the fan motor has expired and will need to be replaced.
  2. ThermostatAnother part that could cause the microwave exhaust fan to not work is a faulty thermostat. A thermostat gauges the air temperature, which activates the exhaust fan when required. If this part becomes flawed, the exhaust fan will not energize and the thermostat will need to be replaced.
  3. Main control boardIf your exhaust fan is still not working and the microwave fan motor, wiring, and thermostat are operating accurately, the root cause could be with the main control board. Replace the main control board.

Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

Heater fan works for a while then cuts off till it cools down

What can go wrong with a blower motor?
There are several things that may cause your blower motor to stop working. The simplest cause would be a blown fuse. If you replace the fuse and it quickly blows again, then you probably have an electrical short. Disconnected wires on the exterior of the blower motor can also cause it stop working, and if your blower motor gets dirty, it can get clogged or muddy which keeps the fan blades from spinning.

How do I test my blower motor?
When you are troubleshooting your blower motor, it is best to start by running the air conditioning or the heater to see if you can hear the sound of the fan. If you can hear the fan, it could be clogged or corroded with dirt. If you do not hear the fan, then you may have a bad resistor, blown fuse, or a loose wire. Next, you should replace any blown fuses in your car's fuse panel and try to start the blower motor again. If another fuse blows right away, you have an electrical short. If it doesn't blow out and the motor is still silent, then something else is wrong. In the case where the fuse lasts for a little while as the fan spins but then the fuse blows again, that usually means you need to replace the brushes on the motor. Finally, you can pull the motor out and visually inspect it for loose wires. If you don't see any and still want to test, try hooking it up to the battery to see if the motor will start. If all these tests still find you with a dead blower motor, it's definitely time to replace it.

How do I replace it?
Usually located under your vehicle's instrument panel, the blower motor can be removed and replaced. You'll need to disconnect the blower motor connector and remove the retaining screws holding it into place. Detach the fan retainer clip from the motor shaft that's located in the center of the blower wheel. You may need to save that piece if you are not replacing the whole motor. Inspect your new motor to ensure nothing is broken and the blades can properly spin. Re-attach the fan retainer clip, the retaining screws, and the connector so you can test your new blower motor out.

Hi and yes if this motor does not have sealed bearings, buy a oiler called a zoom with a telescopic spout and oil the bearings. I wouldn't replace this motor unless it starts to slow and get real loud. Sounds like its just dry bearings. Don't replace it until its to the point of getting hot and stopping on its internal over load.

Maybe the fan is going out. Since you said bulb change I assume your tv is a projection tv. If so I think those tv's have fans to help keep it cool. If the fan is not working properly or failing, the tv may be shutting itself off so further damage does not occur. Check the fan. What is the model number of your tv?
