Question about Reddy R155D Utility Heater

1 Answer

Is R155D the same as PRO155 ? If so , fine .... Other than that I`m not sure what else you`d need to know !? It`s real old and needs a set of filters... It fires quickly ... sounds normal ... doesn`t run any different with the cover on or off ...

You wrote "Is R155D the same as PRO155 ?" Answer- Yes, The R155D is a pro 155, BUT so are many other 155's and not all use the same technology. The newer ones are computerized, the older ones are not.

Yours, the R155D is computerized and uses HSI (hot surface ignitor) technology.

Filters....part number PP214 (complete filter kit).

I have a R-100-A. It starts and runs but it pops a flame out the exhaust frequently (like it is burning raw fuel)_would it need a new spark plug or filters?

hi, it sounds like the jet or nozzle is dirty. try cleaning it out with a bit of carb cleaner and a torch nozzle pick set or sewing needle if needed, and becareful not make the hole bigger than the origional size, also be sure to unplug it. good luck

Reddy pro155 with a glowrod, need to know how to adjust air/fuel mixture. Worked fine till I messed with it and now I don't know how to put it back.

You need a pressure guage to connect to the port beside the one you used to adjust the mixture. The pressure you want is listed on the data label of the heater. A pressure guage with a range of 1-15psi is best.

Header just buzzes when you try to start and the blower will not turn ( reddy heater pro155 155,000bdu).

Remove the top half of the tube so that you can see the blower. Try to turn it by hand to see if it is tight. If it is tight, you may be able to oil it a little and get it to spin easier. Another thing to check would be the compressor attached to the back of the motor. There are 3 screws that hold the filter cover on. Remove the filter cover. Next, 6 screws hold the cover on the compressor. Remove that cover also. Inspect the rotor for damage and make sure the 4 fins in the rotor move freely. With the compressor cover removed try turning the fan to see if it turns easy. Be careful not to let the fins fall out of the rotor. Now put the cover back on the compressor and turn the fan again to see if there is any difference from when the cover was removed. If it doesn't turn freely once the cover is reinstalled then the problem is in the compressor and you need to figure out where it is rubbing. If it is in the motor, you will probably need a new motor.

This is the most common problem with these units after they get several years old. I have a tip which explains exactly how to correct this and where to get the parts you will need. I recommend getting the gauge as you will need it in the future. Go to http://www.fixya.com/support/r4124129-yearly_maintenance_reddy_heaters Let me know if you need anymore help.

Reddy pro155 runs for 3 to 5 seconds

Reply with the correct model number. "Pro 155" designates a series. We need to know whether you have a heater with a spark plug or a heater with an ignitor (glowbar).
