Question about HP Scanjet 4850

2 Answers

My printer does not print the color red. The black, green, blue and yellow print fine. How can this be fixed? If I must pay for an answer to this question, then don't bother to answer. I'll buy a different scanner/printer.

HP Scanjet 4850 is a scanner. It does not print.

There is a lot of red ink in both M and PM color cartridges. I have a Canon Pixma iP6600D printer. The word "Ink Levels" wasn't a given option. What now?

I said I would pay $6 for your solution, so I will.

I found the solution to be poor in that it didn't give enough detail. If I really understood the printer, I could have fixed it without help. Your answer sort of runs together. I think that it would have been better if you had stated, " First try such and such, and test it. If it doesn't work, then try such and such, etc.

Press the 'Menu' button on the printer's control panel. Use the arrow buttons to highlight 'Ink Levels' then press the 'Ok' button to view the cartridge's ink levels.
Open the printer's front cover to replace the color ink cartridge if it shows a low ink level. Wait for the ink cartridges to stop moving.
Press the tab on the front of the color ink cartridge and lift the cartridge out of the printer. Remove the wrappings from the new cartridge and install it in the printer until the front tab clicks.
Clean the print head by pressing the printer's 'Menu' button, then selecting 'Clean Printhead' and press 'Ok.' Press the 'Ok' button again to start the printer's print head cleaning process.
Run the print head cleaning three times; if red still will not print, replace the printer's print head. Remove both print cartridges by pressing on the tabs while you lift each one out of the printer.
Press the button in the upper-left corner of the assembly and remove the print head. Unpack the new print head, remembering to remove the orange cap, and press it into the assembly until it clicks into place. Reinstall the print cartridges until they snap into place as
well.

My Officejet 6000 E609n printer doesn't print the correct colors. The red is printing yellow and the blue and green are a lighter version of what is on the screen. I have cleaned the printer head

Hi,

This is not a cartridge issue. IT is Printhead issue. Since you have done the manual cleaning, it is now time to replace the Printhead.

Regards,
Suhail

Too much red

I'm assuming that the colour cartridge is a three in one. Blue, Yellow and Magenta.

When printing a colour document, the printer automatically balances colour mixtures from the three primary colours listed above. Should a print out be too red, its probably because its run out of yellow and/blue.

The best way to check is to print out a test page, you should get a block for each of the colours and black. If one's missing, there's your answer.

Only prints in green and blue

You are more than likely out of magenta (red) ink. That printer uses a tri-color cartridge, and it has cyan (blue) magenta (red) and yellow ink. Green is blue + yellow-therefore you do have those two colors; since it will not print anything red or black you will need to replace both cartridges.

Wont print out document in blue print

Sorry your having this issue. Because Blue is a lite shade of Black, or a combination of red yellow and green ???? Point is even if you have only a black ink cartridge, or only color cartridge. Blue should be visiable and able to print.
Good luck, jasahasch

Pictures coming out green

On a picture that you have printed, when you see an area of green, what color should it be? You probably have reduced flow of one of the "balancing" colors. Blue, Yellow and Red add up to Black. If your picture is supposed to be almost black and you don't have enough red, the color will pull toward the blue and yellow, giving it a green tint.
