Question about Televison & Video
A model number would have helped me diagnose your unit but because you say that you have white dots on the screen, and the unit is only 3 years old, I will go with what I believe your problem is. I am assuming that you do not have a CRT projection unit. I believe you have an lcd projection tv which is starting to have TFT panel failures. As they age they lose more and more pixels which show up as white dots. The only cure for this is a new optical engine. Cost could be on the order of $350 US. The replacement is not that difficult and can be done using my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine which will walk you through the process as well as link you to the best place to get the parts you need.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the excellent rating. Great ratings keep experts helping everyone solve their problems. Thank you.
