I have put a new cartridge. On starting my printer i have check cartridge light blinking and E inthe place of number of copies .i could not make copies but able to get printout through my computer

Make sure your replacement cartridge is fully seated and locked down correctly. The E is telling you
that the printer thinks the new cartridge is not there. Some HP models are very particular with how the
cartridge is installed.

An additional test. Can you thru the computer to a test print and have the replacement color show up on
the print out?

I am getting a red light and an E showing where the # of copies should be. What is wrong? It is a HP F380

You have a problem with your print cartridges. Please check to see if the print cartridge door is open. If that does not solve it, please refer to this document on the HP web site on how to resolve printer cartridge conditions.

Though the title of the troubleshooting guide says HP DeskJet F300, the symptoms described in your request for help exactly match the descriptions contained here.

Good luck !
