Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Kitchenaid KERS807 Removed the door to clean it and the door locked while the door was open. Now, after reinstalling the door, the latch is still locked. Not sure if there is a code or something that can be entered to unlatch the latch. HELP?

The reply did not work. This model kitchenaid has a start button (with the lock symbol) but holding that just locks the control panel and does not unlock the latch.

The door does not close all the way, which leaves the light on. I had it unplugged all night in hopes that it might reset the computer or something but that did not work either.

This did not work. This kitchenaid model has a start button with the lock symbol. Holding it in will lock the control panel but does not change the situation with the locked latch. The door does not close all the way which means the light is also on all the time. I did leave it unplugged in hopes of resetting "something" but that did not work either.

This code varies depending on the model. For example, on mine, you have to open the door of the oven, and then hold the #3 button down for 5 seconds (this button has a lock pictured on it, and it's more like 7-9 seconds). It will beep at you and "Start?" will appear on the display. If you hit start, the display will change to just saying "control lock".

The same method is used to unlock. You open the door and hold the same button down for the same amount of time. You may not need to hit start for the unlocking, but the door HAS to be open.

My kitchenaid DW kudc101xwho will not stay on. Runs a few min and shuts off. Is this the control panel or the timer?

May be this is the reasons.

a) May be your door latch is opening due to pressure inside the dishwasher. The door latch opens and the dishwasher will stop. Quite common problem on KITCHENAID. KitchenAid door is a heavier door compared to sister product WHIRLPOOL. If door latch problem then has to change the door lock along with the top latch.

Kitchenaid dishwasher KUDS30IXBL door locked open, will not close

There should be a type of hook inside the hole where the door latches to the machine. Hold the handle up and rotate the hook latch so the open side is pointing towards the machine. The click you heard was the latch that holds the door closed moving to the closed position when the door was open, and it needs to be in the release position.

KitchenAid Electric Range KERS807 Oven won't do anything, flashes S3E3 code

Do you mean an F3-E3 code? I've never seen a KitchenAid S3 code.

The F3 code means that the oven temperature sensor is bad. The E3 indicates that the sensor indicated an excessively high temp during the clean cycle.

Please determine the full model number of your range to ensure that you get the correct sensor. The sensor costs between $75-80, depending on the vendor. I used the KERS807SSS02 for a guide. www.searspartsdirect.com and http://www.appliancepartspros.com both have the sensor in stock.

If the range is still under warranty, contact KitchenAid for the repair.

I hope this helps.

KITCHENAID OVEN MODEL KEMS 308 SELF CLEANING

Hi David.

The error is F5E1 and means door latch problem detected. This happened in consequence of the power cut while the unit was in self clean.

Try pressing and holding down the cancel button for one minute.
Try disconnecting power from circuit breaker for ten minutes, that will reset the control board.
If that does not work the door latch, wiring and control module must be tested and the defective part replaced.

Here full troubleshooting from Kitchenaid service papers:

1. If the door lock is latched:
  1. Disconnect power.
  2. Check wiring and connectors from control module to door switch, then from door switch to control (do a continuity test). If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step 3.
  3. Replace the door switch.
  4. Re-apply power.
  5. Press and hold down any key down for 1 minute to clear the F5 failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and wait one minute.
2. If door not latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the door switch.
3. Measure door switch (door open =switch open - Ohms infinity/small low voltage terminals depending on test done- Ohms reading is done with power off). Replace switch if defective.
4. Measure latch switch (unlatch = switch open, CAUTION - oven light contacts are closed). Replace switch if defective.
5. If corrections are made in any step, reconnect power to control. Press and hold any key for 1 minute to clear R failure code from memory. F2 will appear. Press CANCEL and observe for 1 minute to ensure operation is correct.
6. If the problem remains, disconnect power and replace control module.

Regards.

F5E1 or FSE1 error code DOOR LOCKED LATCH NOT OPERATING

On this double oven, each door has it's own latch mechanism that consists of a motor, a position switch, and the door switch used to activate the cavity lights. Because the error indicated a latch failure (and the bottom door was locked), Start by cycling the power to the unit. Each time the power is removed and then applied to these ovens, both latches will lock then unlock the doors to ensure they are in the home open position. By doing so, you might be able to get the bottom oven door opened allowing me access to the latch assembly. With the latch removed, I try to begin a clean cycle so you could watch the motor operate and you will probably find that it will start to turn, but never would rotate enough to lock the door. Since the position switch was not actuated at the end of the motor operation, the F5 E1 error was again displayed. Replace the motor assembly

KitchenAid Superba oven will not open - seems like it is locked (similar to if using self clean option) however, it is not. This is a double oven - the bottom oven opens and operates normally. Top oven...

the latch the hooks into the door is caught inside the slot where it locks into when in self clean, you have to move the latch, unplug it,look through the air vents or slots up above the door if you can get a screw driver in there try to move the latch or if you can get something down inside to move the latch,i used a plastic long wire tie to do this before,i slid the tie down around the metal hook part of the latch that locks into the door, and pulled it to the left and got the door to open,it got hung up in the hole and the door wouldn't open but what ever works you have to move the hook part of the latch to get the door open, you can try picking up on the door to see if you can get it open or you'll have to pull the oven out and take the top off to get at the latch, hope this helps

KUDS24SE KitchenAid door latch broke. How do I take the door apart

If the door cannot be opened, remove the the outside lower panel. (2 screws at bottom of panel, then lift off. Take a long screw driver (be sure power is removed first!) and push up behind the control panel at the latch at the very top middle of the door. You can them open the door and remove the screws that hold the control panel on. When the control panel is removed you will have access to the door handle and latch pieces. These parts can be ordered through sears partsdirect web site. Good luck.

Kitchenaid superba Stove Door

Slid the bottom storage compartment completely out. On the bottom of oven door are four (4) screws that hold trim piece that support outer glass panel. Remove screws and carefully remove complete glass and trim assembly. There are two (2) corner trim panels that are also secured by two (2) of the screws being removed. At this point you can clean all glass (both the outer panel that was removed and the inner insulated glass) and all other built up goop. Simply reverse process to reinstall.

Self clean inoperative

Dear Superglide, An error code "F5 E1" means "door latch not operating". In such situation I would recomend to replace the oven lock assy (part # 9782611 ) which is located on the back panel. If you are going to do it yourself - DO NOT forget to unplug the power cord first. About service manual - try to call Kitchen Aid directly.
