Service- Airbag I have a ''Service'' mesaage with the picture of the Passenger Airbag lightning up

The airbag is a federally-required component of the vehicle. Most states require that the bags be installed and in good service condition. The only exceptions are for pickup trucks that may require the need to install a car seat in the front passenger side. They may have a switch to disable the passenger airbag under these conditions. Other vehicles have a seat sensor that detects the amount of weight on the front passenger seat and will automatically disable the airbag when there is no one in the seat or if the person in the seat is under a certain weight, indicating that they may be injured by the activation of the airbag. Otherwise, it is unwise, and in many jurisdictions, *******, to disable an airbag. Thus, although there may be ways to do it, you probably won't get any help here as we are bound to terms of service on this site, as well as that we don't want or need the potential legal liability issues that such information could bring down upon us.

The passenger sensing system turns off the right front
passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side
impact airbag under certain conditions. The driver
airbags and the roof-rail airbags are not affected by the
passenger sensing system.
The passenger sensing system works with sensors that
are part of the right front passenger seat. The sensors
are designed to detect the presence of a properly-seated
occupant and determine if the right front passenger
frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag
should be enabled (may inflate) or not.

I'm not sure if a purse or other light weight objects would activate the passenger airbag but if your display is showing random passenger activation it would be best to have a qualified dealer check into it...better safe than sorry.

"Passenger airbag switched off warning on dashboard" This means there is a problem with the air bag system in the vehicle and the system is non-operable.

Until the problem is fixed and the system re-activates you will have no airbag protection inside the cabin.
You will need to take the car to the dealer service center to have it checked out and repaired as needed.

Most the problems it is seat.check wires.

There are two junction connections on the four wire harness that runs from the SDM (airbag controller under driver seat) to the passenger side airbag (I/P module). Once connection is just below the passenger side airbag in the dash and another is behind the driver side kick panel.

In my case, the connector behind the driver side kick panel had likely a bit of corrosion and there was high resistance that thre the service airbag message and light on the dash. Once I cleaned this connection, the light was gone and the problem is now fixed.

High resistance in either of these connections will throw the B0019 OD code.

no it means the airbag passenger restaint system has a malfuntion, at this time you have no active function of the Airbag passenger restaint system. Since this is real safety issue see your local dealer ASAP!

This should be for the passenger side airbag. If an adult is sitting in the passenger side seat and there is a light that says airbag off then you have a problem either with the passenger side airbag or with the passenger side seat detector. Start up the car and sit in the passenger seat, buckle the seat belt and make sure the light now says airbag on. If this does not happen take car to dealer. Dealers have correct computers to enter the airbag modules to read and diagnose the fault code.
