Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Keyboard problem whenever i wish to type something like in word, address bar of internet explorer(anywhere something can be typed),some symbol starts apearing there and even if i press the backspace key it resurfaces.Earlier it used to be this (""""""""""")and now it is the 'equal to' sign.I couldn't type' equal to' sign now because that button is not working.Such behavior though doesn't happen continuously. When such thing happens and on right clicking on the desktop a particular sound also appears.

I've got the same problem, the "=" sign appears about once every second. It's not in every program I use, only in a few of them, and I think it's preventing my screensaver from turning on

I want to reset my security wireless key

If you remember the user name and password for the router, you can log into the router by typing the address in the address bar in internet explorer. you can find the router address by going to a command prompt (press start and click run in windows xp or type cmd in the search bar on vista or windows 7) and typing ipconfig. This must be done on a computer thats either directly connected to the router or connected wirelessly. you will see a set of numbers telling your IP address, subnet mask and gateway. The gateway address is the address of the router. it will usually be something like 192.168.1.1. type this address into the address bar of internet explorer and log into the router. go to wireless settings and you will be able to reset your wireless password. Another option, if you forget your logon for the router, is to jus reset the router to factory default. use a small thing object such as a paperclip and press and hold the reset button on the back or bottom of the router while you unplug and plug the router back in. Once it's powered on, you can let go of the reset button. This will have reset the router back to factory default, with no wireless password. Good luck

I m unable to access the internet using the routter , how can i reset the dlink -524 wirless?

There is a small-pinhole on the back of the router next to where you plug in the power adapter. In that pin-hole is the reset button. Stick something in there and hold for 30sec, this will reset your router back to it's default factory settings.

Now you need to setup your router again. On a computer that is attached to the router by an ethernet (LAN) cord, open up internet explorer and type in the default IP Address for your router into the address bar. In your case, the default IP Address is
192.168.0.1
If that does not bring up a login window, then you should go to Start > Run
and in the Run window, type CMD and hit enter (in Vista and Win 7 just select the Start Orb and type CMD into the search bar). In the command prompt window that opened up, type IPCONFIG /ALL and hit enter. You're looking for Default Gateway (that's your router). Write down that IP address and then type it into your address bar of Internet Explorer or your web browser.
Now that the login window for your router is open, you will login with the default login information which is "admin" for the UserName (there is no password) now hit the ok button.
Click on the Wireless button on the left-hand side of the screen. Type in your SSID (this is the name of the network, you can name it whatever you wish).
Leave Channel set to 6.
If you wish to use security (which you should) select your preferred method, for now we'll just use WEP.
Pick Enabled for it.
Select your level of encryption (64bit or 128bit)
select HEX or ASCII and create a key. If you create it in Key 1 Field, select that field, now hit apply at the bottom of your screen.
Now your router is reset and set back up. Now you need to conenct to your SSID on your wireless computers and input your WEP key and you will connectt.
Hope this helps!

I can't get into ip address 192.168.1.1 I seem

Sometimes these IP address 192.168.1.1 when you type it in the address bar don't work in internet browser like mozilla firefox and ggogle chrome.

If you are using windows xp... use the "e explorer" (internet explorer) as your browser
On the address bar type 192.168.1.1
There you can access the configuration of your router.

Explorer will not open, it either freezes and does not respond or it crashes.

Is this Internet Explorer or File Explorer? If its Internet Explorer then try this:

Goto Start > Run
in the Run box type 'explorer' without the quotes
in the address bar of explorer type in the website address you are trying to go to.

If that works then you need to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer or better yet uninstal IE and install FireFox.

7. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer
ex: http://192.168.1.0

Windows Vista
1. Click pearl button (start in xp)
2. Click on start search box (run in xp)
3. Type cmd in the box
4. Right click the black icon up at the top
5. Click on run as administrator
6. Click on continue
7. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
8. Look for the default gateway
9. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer
10. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer

Hi,
Try to restore the PC to an earlier state by using system restore. If that doesn't help, you'll have to repair the XP installation using the original XP CD
