Erratic problem with computer not booting up sometimes yet okay at other times. I thought it was related to my placing computer on Hibernate because problem seemed to resolve when I turned off Hibernate function. BUT came back today and finally booted after 3-4 tries. When turned on, the Dell window comes up with F2, F12 options but they never come on only blinking cursor light on upper left and #9 illuminates on keyboard.

Dell thought it was need for new hard disk but I returned their disk when Hibernate function off.

    Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem with the Asptre T180. The keyboard is not working as I cannot get past the initial "hit Delete" for set-up screen. Please E-Mail me at with the heading of "Mac's Repairs" with your answers as I do not have internet access just yet. I tried everything to get it to boot up but nothing. It came from a friend who has taken the burner out. I build & repair comps but this one has me stumpped. If there Is Anyone who can help I will be much grateful!!

My refurbished Gateway GT 5228 desktop motherboard flamed out after 9 months. The power supply checked as ok. I replaced the board and it worked flawlessly for 30 days with 3600 joules surge protector and then the next day didn't! The fan, lights, and CD eject door work, but there is no output to monitor and no access to the BIOS. Is there a design flaw in the motherboard? Is there a class action suite against Gateway for a defective product?

What type of PC are we talking about? Have you tried a replacement "known to be good power supply", the board will spin up with ram & video card not seated correctly. are you getting any bios "beep" codes?

Okay you may have cracked the processor or it has to be either the ram, video card not seated correctly, something pluged up wrong, or unplugged and missed it the procesor is cracked you will have to get a new PC

My computer will not boot up,mother board problem?

could be a mother board problem but before you replace it try a few things first

remove the memory and try to boot
unplug all hard drives apart from master and try to boot
go into the bios and load default settings rty to boot

when you mean doesnt boot do you get the welcome screen ? says windows xp etc

if so then its a windows issue and you need to reinstall windows

if after trying all of this the yes maybe its a mother board issue

hope this helps

My system with asus p5n73-am mother board shows BSOD

if nothing else is affected and everything runs fine after this then i would be careful on what you install because this could become a serious issue this happens because the computer notices an error on startup then either fixes itself or ignores the problem write back if the problem worsens

1 long steady beep medion 3100

To my experience one long beep usually is a memory problem. It could be the memory stick itself or it could be the memory slot on the mother board. If you have another memory stick, try to boot the computer with that stick. Try as well to use the other slot. If one of the stick works but not the other, you have a defective memory stick and need to replace it. If one memory slot works but not the other, then it's a problem with the slot itself and there is no fix for it, you would need to replace the mother board if that is the case.
