Erratic problem with computer not booting up sometimes yet okay at other times. I thought it was related to my placing computer on Hibernate because problem seemed to resolve when I turned off Hibernate function. BUT came back today and finally booted after 3-4 tries. When turned on, the Dell window comes up with F2, F12 options but they never come on only blinking cursor light on upper left and #9 illuminates on keyboard.

Dell thought it was need for new hard disk but I returned their disk when Hibernate function off.

    Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem with the Asptre T180. The keyboard is not working as I cannot get past the initial "hit Delete" for set-up screen. Please E-Mail me at derrelmac@yahoo.com with the heading of "Mac's Repairs" with your answers as I do not have internet access just yet. I tried everything to get it to boot up but nothing. It came from a friend who has taken the burner out. I build & repair comps but this one has me stumpped. If there Is Anyone who can help I will be much grateful!!

My refurbished Gateway GT 5228 desktop motherboard flamed out after 9 months. The power supply checked as ok. I replaced the board and it worked flawlessly for 30 days with 3600 joules surge protector and then the next day didn't! The fan, lights, and CD eject door work, but there is no output to monitor and no access to the BIOS. Is there a design flaw in the motherboard? Is there a class action suite against Gateway for a defective product?

What type of PC are we talking about? Have you tried a replacement "known to be good power supply", the board will spin up with ram & video card not seated correctly. are you getting any bios "beep" codes?

PC is booting up by itself

hi, you can apply first the basic trouble shooting. turn off the your pc then unscrew and then remove the cover of the pc unit to access the internal part. secondly remove connector like IDE or SATA cable for the hard drive and cd rom then re insert as well as the connectors from the power supply going to the mother board. next clean the pin of the memory using with an eraser then re insert it to the mother board. much better if you vacuum inside, dirty connectors can cause rebooting. hope this can help thanks for consulting through fixya feel free to ask further solution.

Wow...did you use a vacume anyware near the mother board? the static on the end of a vacume hose is REALLY BAD NEWS TO A MOTHER BOARD.

Try to reseat all cables and plug's. try to boot again.

If that doesn't work try this.

Remove all PCI DEVICES. Try to boot with just the power cable... bare bone mother board....will it post?

If not remove the board from the case...try booting again...if she doesn't boot ast this point , the board took a static hit...she's toast...sry..:)

Please leave feed back

Thanks

Re seat your RAM and any other cards that plug into the Mother Board such as PCI cards then try starting the computer again. If that doesn't fix it, then you can uninstall devices and try to boot until you find the culprit, as those beeps you hear sound like hardware error beeps that can be caused by faulty hardware (even keyboards or mice) that plug into your computer. Eliminating all removable hardware should help you determine whether it's an add on component or if the Mother Board itself is bad.
Good luck

Board problems

chek whether the connections from the smps are right and chek whether the cables connected to the board are intact.. the smps may be incompatible with your board or will give it low power so that it cannot start.. check whether the mother board is deviod of all metal contacts and chek whether u've secured the board to the cabinet using the plastic jumpers..
