Same Problem

May 20, 2009

-   My refurbished Gateway GT 5228 desktop motherboard flamed out after 9 months. The power supply checked as ok. I replaced the board and it worked flawlessly for 30 days with 3600 joules surge protector and then the next day didn't! The fan, lights, and CD eject door work, but there is no output to monitor and no access to the BIOS. Is there a design flaw in the motherboard? Is there a class action suite against Gateway for a defective product? -   dmdads

-   I am having the same problem with the Asptre T180. The keyboard is not working as I cannot get past the initial "hit Delete" for set-up screen. Please E-Mail me at derrelmac@yahoo.com with the heading of "Mac's Repairs" with your answers as I do not have internet access just yet. I tried everything to get it to boot up but nothing. It came from a friend who has taken the burner out. I build & repair comps but this one has me stumpped. If there Is Anyone who can help I will be much grateful!! -   derrelmac

-   Erratic problem with computer not booting up sometimes yet okay at other times. I thought it was related to my placing computer on Hibernate because problem seemed to resolve when I turned off Hibernate function. BUT came back today and finally booted after 3-4 tries. When turned on, the Dell window comes up with F2, F12 options but they never come on only blinking cursor light on upper left and #9 illuminates on keyboard.
Dell thought it was need for new hard disk but I returned their disk when Hibernate function off.
Any thoughts? -   eyeguy7

-   ok, i know a little when it comes to trouble shooting, i have a dell optiplex gx520 machine, i noticed it just shut down, i opened system cleaned it up, remove all the dust. i closed the machine and it worked for one week, right now it only boots to the screen with the saft mode option and now, when it reboots the power light stays on and the fan fan somtimes spins extremely fast, i tried everything, what can be the problem, i try reinstalling but, it just goes off and the power light stays on,-   riko200

What type of PC are we talking about? Have you tried a replacement "known to be good power supply", the board will spin up with ram & video card not seated correctly. are you getting any bios "beep" codes?
