Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a kenmore front loading washer serial # XC34713478. Just before final rinse, the water pump extracts all of the water out of the system but it never stops pumping. I can stop the washer, turn the control knob 1 click to the right, restart and the washer will finish it's cycle. It just gets hung up before the final rinse. Somehow the cycle doesn't know when it's suppose to stop the water pump and continue with the final rinse. I've already replaced the water pump. What's next?

I have the dryer attached to the top of the washer. There is a lot of work involved for a "why not give it a try solution". How does the water pump know when there's no more water to pump, and what tells the system to move on to the next cycle. This problem only presents itself in the Eco-cycle mode. The power wash mode seems to be working just fine. In other suggestions before I waste half a day on why not give it a try, can't hurt theory?

Ok, so what next. What's the fix? Do I replace the control behind that knob?

You know I don't mind taking this thing apart to fix it. I would just like to be able to diagnose the problem before I start wasting time. For some reason the problem has at least temporarily fixed itself. Seems to be working fine in all cycles. However I'm a little hesitant to run any loads without carefully watching it. When it stuck it tried to burn up the pump as it probably ran for an hour or more. The pump still worked but it made a lot of noise. It still hung up once after I installed the new pump, but has worked ever since I tried another cycle. Is it possible these "controls" are now working in sync with the new pump, or is this a glitch that's liable to resurface at an inopportune time?

The fancy control monitors the water right? It knows when it took too long to fill and to drain right?
I would remove the top and blow out the sediment in the tubing to see if that fixes it before ordering any expensive parts. I have a kenmore front - themobilian_125.jpgremove that tubing from that pressure switch and blow it out. It don't hurt to try. themobilian_127.jpg Manual and more photos

You probably have a glitch in the control. If you only have the problem in one cycle. If what I suggested was really the cause you would be having the same problem in all the cycles.

Did you say all the wash cycle were fine except for that one? I do not know that I would bother in that case.

You still have to remove the top to get to the controls.

Kenmore elite washer problem

sounds as if you have a drain issue, most common cause of fault is theres something stuck in the pump housing. remove the lower acess panel(3 screws along the bottom of the forn of unit) youll gain acess to the pump housing, remove the large cover to the "button trap" by uncscrewimg the cover, it will be righthin front of you in the center of machine when cover removed, im sure youll find your blockage within there
