SOURCE: sony receiver str-da2000

Here is the link for the user manual if you need it; http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=STRDA2000ES®ion_id=1 Check page 54 for details of the error message - it should disappear if the speakers are connected properly and the unit is switched off and on. Check page 17 for speaker connection details, and ensure they are all correct. Check page 19 for details of the factory reset/memory clearing. Hopefully this will clear the error code and let you set the unit up. Hope this helps, please ask again if no luck :)

its for digital decoding of the sound source. You need to connect a digital cable (ie optical) from the DVD player to the optical input in the receiver. The receiver should then decode the source into multichannel components ie 5 channels for example

SOURCE: mySony str-da5000es is showing error code 11 and

error code 11 (protector) - According to the manual, 11/PROTECTOR means, "Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn of the receiver, check the speaker connection and turn on the power again." Most likely, a strand of speaker wire is shorted to the chassis at one of the speaker terminals.
Hope this helps !

I turned Zone 2 on on my Sony AV System and now can't turn it off. There must be something simple that I'm overlooking, I just can't find an off function. The remote says RM-AAE003 R on it. Thanks for...

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

Page 18 tells how to reset the Receiver to its factory defaults. But if Zone 2 or 3 are on it won't work. Quite the Catch-22, huh?

It claims the RM-US106 should be the remote, which has explicit Zone Keys right on it.

This is SONY's own post for that remote (which requires its own manual) and it seems to be a dead end.

My sony str- is getting a sony protector check code 22. Is that a fuse problem or do i have to get sony to fix it? napa.king@yahoo.com

Unfortunately this is not a fuse problem, as the fuse would burn before the protector check code appears. Probably there is a short circuit and you should take to an authorized sony repair shop. Good Luck.

I get a message "protector check code 11" and then it powers off

Page 59 of the manual (avaliable at retrevo.com after you register)...

"PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 11
Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn off the receiver , check the speaker conenction and turn on power again"

What this means is it senses a short circuit in one or more of the speaker paths. Disconnect all speakers, see if it works with none; then start connecting speakers again until you find the problem.

Can i have two 400 w spekers on sony DA5000ES?

Be very careful here.

If you put the speakers in parallel, the amp may well blow (4 ohm speakers in parallel would kill it at high volumes), and it may take the speakers with it.

I wouldn't try to extract more than the rated power from the amp. At it's rated output, it's seriously distorting, to a point where it becomes unlistenable. So, trying to ramp up the power further would only make it sound worse.

Putting the speakers in series is a safer route for your amp.

No Digital Output

"Unlocked" only means that it isn't detecting a digital signal on the input. "Locked" conversely means that it has locked on to a digital signal. My Sony receiver behaves this way.
