You need to remove the base and lay it down flat on a soft surface and remove all the screws on the back and pry open the back. Look for cold joints, the one in my pictures has cold joints on the one of the leg of retangular grey cap. I would usally inspect the board real well with magnifying glass and resolder just about all joints just to sure.

Good morning. I have a Vizio e550i-b2 with no picture or sound but I did the flashlight test and I can see picture. Any idea what I need to fix my issue. thank you so much

This model develops bad solder joints on the connector between the power supply and the led driver board and loses backlighting. It's hard to believe, but the whole connection goes bad. All those pins supply only 24v and gnd. Resolder all of them and the tv will work.
It's the connector between that large yellow board (p/s) and the center green board (led driver).

I have a 32" toshiba Mod# 32av502r that will come

Hi patmac2,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.
Random subsequent turned off and on like what you've described is mostly caused by the following.
1. Excessive heat - if the unit turned off and on randomly after a few hours of being power on, then high chance that the parts gone to heat build up that trigger the thermal protection circuitry to kick on. If this is the case, I would advice you to give the unit's vent a proper ventilation, keep away all the obstruction to have a sufficient air flow.
2. Bad solder joints - cracked, dried, cold solder is one of the common caused of the symptoms you've mentioned. I would advice you to check the power supply board for bad solder joints, it is hard to spot, I would advice you to work on the brightest area or used portable lamp and magnifying glass, re-solder all suspected joints.
3. Power supply malfunction - Once the power supply board gone to overload, out-of-regulation condition, the feedback circuitry will sensed it and will caused for randomly shuts down. I would advice you to check the power supply board's electrolytic filter capacitor. Partially faulty (leaky, dried) electrolytic capacitor can produce out-of-regulation condition on the power supply. Most of the faulty electrolytic capacitor has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify through visual inspection. If your unit is not under warranty period, inspect it from the power supply board. See sample picture of bad capacitor with dome at the top.

Electrolytic capacitor info.

If you've confirmed that excessive heat, bad solder joints, electrolytic capacitor are isolated and not the issue, I would advice you to replaced the entire power supply board (part number : 75014421). I saw it in stock at this link : .

Hope I helped you.
Have a great day!
Rating and feedback are highly appreciated!

The blue light on my tv keeps blinking why is that?

Sir this blinking light commonly indicates an error, most of the error comes from the power supply. Unplug the unit from the main AC outlet then remove the back cover of your unit then observe carefully the parts specially the capacitor. Provably the power supply has a bulging top capacitor this bulge up capacitor produces a low and unfiltered dc supply that causes your unit to malfunction. ekcnoel_31.jpg
this is the bad or bulging capacitor, replace this with the same type, and also look for loosed or cold solder in the solder part of your power supply. ekcnoel_12.jpeg
This is the cold solder joint or loosed solder. Good day and best regards.

Tv will work for awhile then the screen go's out if I turn it off for awhile it will work again

Hello Foley Hi, I need a few question to ask,
  1. As the TV goes out, Is the audio present? If yes, then the problem would be a soon to fail inverter board. In no, then both the sound and picture are out, this could be a power supply failure.
  2. Does the power light also goes out? turns red? this is a power supply board failure. A replacement board is needed to repair this type of trouble.
In number 2, the power supply board might have loose or cold solder joints, when gets hot, temporarily opens the cold solder, then connects itself again when the TV cools down, If this is the case then you need a technician to find the loose joint. As for number 1, the inverter board needs replacement, you also need a technician to do the replacement.

On my sumsung lnt5265f 52 in hdtv lcd tv the power light indicator come on but no picture and makes clicking sound. HELP

The issue has been resolved. I removed the back of the TV (pretty easy actually) by laying a blanket over the kitchen table and placing the TV face down. I started with the power supply as an obvious beginning. Both fuses on the board tested fine. And touched up every solder joint with a hot soldering iron in case the problem was a cold solder joint. After this painstaking venture, I performed another visual inspection and noticed a capacitor that had a thin black X on the top of the can. This is a common sign the capacitor has over heated. I located a replacement for $1.20, installed, and successfully powered up the TV. I have had no problems since.
Oh, yeah, I also paid $120 for a BN44-00150A replacement power supply, plus overnight shipping. It actually arrived three weeks later. That was two weeks and six days after I fixed the power supply myself.

Picture break up

My first gut tells me that this is a power supply problem. The power supply runs out of capacity due to the increased load of the audio amp. Possible problems might be power supply capacitors have changed their value (lowered), if it has a linear power supply, the full wave bridge (that converts AC to DC)might have a bad diode, if it is a switching power supply one or more of the output capacitors may actually be open. Another possible problem is a cold solder joint. Does the picture breakup occur when the case is slapped? This could indicate a mechanical failure (like a solder joint). Is this the only symptom that this set has?

cold solder joint on the power supply or in the vert curcuit. If you know anything about the proceder to troubleshoot cold solder connections GO for it but if you dont and dont wanna cause any other problems with the set My advice would be to take it to a pro before any other problems arise if they already havent. Its not a major repair most of the time.
