Recently spam hackers have been hijacking Email accounts to use for their own dirty deeds and scams. The best thing to do is to deactivate your Yahoo account and make a new one.

Click here to go to the Yahoo compromisation web site and follow the instructions to disable your account.

The reason deleting the account is because these spam hackers are sending unwanted advertising to all your contacts claiming to be you. As far as you know they might even be sending emails to all your contacts asking for money.
There was a recent scam where spam hackers hijacked this lady's account and sent a message to all her contacts that she was stuck in Namibia and needed money to be sent to a specified account to get home.

To stop it, delete your email account, or if you are able to regain access, change your password to something a little more complex and define for yourself a few security questions only you would know. Another thing is just to contact all the people you had in your contacts and tell them that you account has been compromised and that they must ignore any emails received from it.

If you notice changes to your account that you did not make or if you believe your Yahoo! account has been used by someone else without permission, please immediately change your password. Go to Yahoo! Account Info and click Change your password.
If you are not able to sign into your Yahoo! account, visit the Sign-in Problems page and choose My account may have been compromised. These pages ask for basic information, such as your birthday and the postal code you provided when you registered to verify that you are the true owner of the account. After verification, Yahoo! will reset your password.
Next, we ask that you report the possible fraud to Yahoo!. Contact Yahoo! Customer Care and supply as much detail as possible regarding the problem:

  • If you remember replying to an unsolicited email asking for your Yahoo! ID or password, please include as much information as possible regarding the email you received.
  • If you believe your password was collected from a website that was not Yahoo!, please include the full address of the webpage you saw collecting passwords.
IMPORTANT: If you supplied credit card or bank account numbers to an unverified website or in an email message, you should immediately report this to your financial institutions.
We encourage you to learn more about protecting your account and avoiding password scams.
Using an older version of Internet Explorer or Firefox subjects your PC to more vulnerabilities, viruses and spyware. To ensure you're protected, we recommend downloading a Yahoo! optimized version of Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox today.
