Here we go. First unplug the unit. Remove the front panel by removing the 4 phillips screws just inside the door (on the hinges and just opposite). Next remove the greenish/ brown 5/16 screws that hold the front panel in. There are wires still connected (door switch and moisture sensor) but if you swing it to the side, you can leave them connected and still procede. Next, you have to reach underneath (very difficult to see this so you will have to do it by feel) There is a belt that wraps around the drum. On the underneath side of the drum as you follow the belt it wraps around the motor pulley (small wheel) and the tensioner pulley (bigger wheel just to the right). Now with one hand, move the larger pulley towards the msaller one. This will give you slack and you can take the belt off both pulleys. Now pull the drum
forward. There you have the inner workings left. Now, there are 3 wheels. 2 black and 1 white. Your squeeking noise will be coming from the one that doesn't turn freely. You can get the replacement wheel from your local appliance parts store or on line from the manufatrues web site. However, if you do have to wait for the part, take the wheel off the shaft and wipe off the inside race of the wheel and the shaft for temporarily
relife and useage.

Brand new maytag dryer works but makes noise

Could be something in the blower housing or maybe a loose blower. It might be a bad wheel though if you used the incorrect venting or your vent has a restriction that would cause overheating.Usually the wheel closest to heat source begins to squeal. Ever hear the old say the squeaky wheel gets the grease?

The dryer makes a squeaky noise and has begun "eating" clothes. They get stuck in the crack.

Both the faults are related to a poor alignment of the unit. You will have to remove and adjust the dyer to realign so as to reduce the gap as well as remove the squeaky noise.
remove the unit check the movement and set it to move with the slightest gap.

My Maytag gas dryer (MDG3000AWW) is making a terric noise. Checked the belt, rollers, motor and blower. All seem well. The drum however does not rotate smothely, Appears warped. Is this possible?

A warped drum is possible, but not likely. Check the bearing at the rear of the drum to see if it is breaking loose from the drum. If still under warranty, take advantage. If not, and the bearing IS breaking loose, the mount can probably be welded. If the drum interior is enameled finish, the damage can be repaired with epoxy. If the drum is stainless steel, the weld area can be re-polished to original. Hope this helps!

My dryer is making a very loud squeaky noise. Is is the motor or something else?

Not the motor if it's still working. The noise is coming from the bushing that hold the drum in place.

Maytag MDG3000AWW drum moving slowly

If the belt looks worn you should replace it. But it sounds like the idler pulley has gone out of position or possibly broken. The idler pulley adds tension to the belt and keeps it from spinning on the drum surface. Check the path of the belt on the bottom of the dryer. That is where the idler pulley is.
