Question about Gateway Media Center 610XL PC Desktop

2 Answers

Seemingly the motherboard Samsung 4001035 of my Gateway 610 Media Center has a problem in the video chip and nobody has been able fix it. Isn´t there another motherboard for this machine? or, that motherboard can be repaired? At first by being on, suddenly the screen went out and went back. Some times the screen lasted several minutes but when I clicked the mouse, the screen went out again and so on and so forth. Now, the screen doesn´t appear any more. Technician say the problem isn´t in the monitor but in the motherboard video chip

Everything you´re suggesting was done. Even I bought another motherboad but it had the same problem. Now I have two motherboards for this pc. Someone said to me he was able to fix it but I don´t know whether the process repair will be good and can resolve the problem. I read in the Wikipedia site that the Gateway MC 610 was an experimental model on the design of the Intel video chip, which was a mistake.

For tu fix the machine I´ve to buy other motherboard, but fail was the same. I read in the Wikipedia site that the model media center 610 Gateway was an experimental model in the design of the intel video, which it was a mistake, is for that the motherboards are failing. Technician told me if I buy another motherboard, I´ll have the same problem. In Atiwa.com site told me they can fix the motherboard, but I don´t know wheather the repair process will be secure.

I am little confused whether you are looking for the motherboard or a repair service. If you are ready to replace the motherboard, you can find it here (Click here), the cost of the motherboard is $119 for one piece. These are the supported Part Number.. Samsung (53-81576-01, 53-81576E05, 53-81576E05, 4001035, 4001039, 4001041, VL93-L).
And here's another (Click Here), the price is $67.50 and the only Support Product Code mentioned is 4001035.

But if you would go for a repair, I would recommend Atiwa.com. May take time depending on the condition of the damage, but they will somehow fix it. Of course, they may replace some parts, but if you are ready to pay for the fix, I would say that it's worth. You only need to inquire the fee and the duration of the warranty, if they are only going to give a 30 day warranty with a high fee/charge, something around the half-price of a new computer, then you better forget them.

All the best.

Thanks for using FixYa.

While the display disappears is your system working means is the processor fan running first you have to check whether the graphics section is working or not or is it any other problem remove your computer cover and install a add on pci display card and check whether the display is steady if the display is steady the problem is in the graphics chip if still having the problem after installing the add on card remove your processor fan and the processor clean the surface with a clean cloth fix the processor to the socket apply a thin layer of heat sink solvent and place the fan firmly on the socket remove your memory card and wipe clean with a cloth and rub the golden print with an eraser dont wipe it with any metal it may damage the memory place the memory in the slot To find whether the problem is with the graphics chip it can be rectified with a chip level engineer or you can buy a pci express graphics card

Need replacement Gateway 500 Media Center motherboard

Well of the 4 things needed for a pc to power on and work, you have replaced two. Next would be the mother board or CPU so if you have spare parts to test with I would try those.

I need to know what graphics card to use to update

The Gateway 610 uses an AGP graphics slot so any video card with AGP hookup should work fine. The link below is to a parts site for this computer.

Black screen

I suppose you are saying that the computer is powering up, however, you cannot see the video. In that case you have a bad graphic chip or video card. The gateway media centers came with built-in graphic chips. Thus, your system is dead.

You need to replace the system board.

This is a well known issue with gateway media centre and there is no easy solution for this problem. If you are an expert in tearing apart the system and putting it back, then this LInk has some options which have worked to many people.

Gateway 610 k/b & mouse unrecognized..CMOS problem??

It's not the K/M, there probably was a surge that went through, and effected the motherboard in the computer. so you can take it to your local computer shop. But, before you bring it there, back up your important files because they might have to format your HD.

Gateway Media Center PC is on, but there is no picture.

I have been fixing one for a customer. At first I thought that it was the typical burned out powersupply. Delta Electronics has created a replacement. The old REV 00 is 185 watts peak. The new REV01 is 185 nominal. Was the shaggy067 did not take the time to look up is that the 610 is an "All in one" modular monitor/case.
This customers is the first one that I have replace the power supply and it still does not work. I believe the flourescent backer of the LCD is shot. I will not know for sure until I find another one. The S-video works fine, so I am testing it using my projector. Everything works except the lcd panel.
