Best case scenario, the two easy to get at black hoses got to your pump. Mostlikely you have something lodged in there or it has simply fronzen up. That would account for why gravity can drain it but it can't drain while it's running. Old style pump? There are two clips you can snap off and the pump will drop down. New style pump, there are 4 #20 torx screws that have to come out. If that doesn't take care of it, also remove the back panel with the 2 5/16 screws. This will let you see a "see through" chamber in the back of the tub. Often items (expeccially underiwre) get caught in and debris build up in. Using a bent over coat hanger, you can fish items out.

Water does not get hot on a hot wash

Shut off the water. Disconnect & check the BOTH water supply hoses at the MACHINE to check for obstructions / kinks / etc: Check for and clean any strainer / filter on the hoses and inlet to the washer. Direct the hoses into a tub or other container and turn water ON. make sure you have water flow from BOTH hoses and that one is HOT and the other is COLD. If OK, reconnect to machine. Turn water back ON. Choose a WARM wash.

If you get COLD only, you probably have a bad HOT solenoid - if HOT only you have a bad COLD solenoid. Be sure by:

Shut water off and swap hose connections (hot to cold & cold to hot) and try again.

If you get COLD only, you probably have a bad COLD solenoid - if HOT only you have a bad HOT solenoid. If you get HOT only, you probably have a bad COLD faucet / hose - if HOT only you have a bad COLD faucet / hose.

Replace the bad solenoid as needed. Good luck!

Hot water fills with hot and cold not strictly hot what is the fix

see the causes: and proceed with common sense. God bless you
Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests: Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on. Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct. Is there hot water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, completely replace it.

GE washing maching not filling

Several factors can cause a GE washing machine not to allow water to enter the drum, including closed valves, kinked hoses, a faulty electrical breaker or sediment in the water lines. Sediment occurs most often when the water to the home is off due to electrical outages or when installing items in the plumbing. Cleaning the screens will remove a sediment blockage, allowing water into a washing machine.
    • 1 Check each water valve for the hot and cold water lines to make sure they are open completely. Open valves are turned completely to the left. Check the fuse at the electrical box to make sure it is not faulty, and check to make sure the washer is plugged securely into the outlet. Observe the water supply hoses to make sure there are no kinks from the supply valves to the back of the appliance.
Observe the water supply valve handles to see if they are cracked. If so, they need replacing.
    • 2 Turn off both the hot and cold water supply valves. Turn each knob completely counterclockwise to turn them to the off position. Pull the washer forward to reach the water supply valves, hoses and the back of the washing machine. Place one hand on each side of the washing machine and slightly lift the front while pulling straight out from the wall.
    • 3 Place a bucket at the rear of the appliance. Use adjustable pliers to unscrew the hot and cold water hoses on the back of the washing machine. Turn each hose counterclockwise to unscrew and remove from the washing machine while pointing them into the bucket to catch any water in the hoses.
    • 4 Turn on the hot water supply valve and hold the hose pointing into the bucket. Observe to see if water is coming out of the hose or trickling out of the hose. Repeat this procedure for the cold water supply hose. Limited water or no water flow indicates that the lack of flow is at the valve end of the water supply hoses.
    • 5 Pull the filters out of the washer valves with needle-nose pliers. Rinse under warm water to clean out any sediment and replace them in the hot and cold water washer valves on the appliance.
    • 6 Unscrew the hot water supply hose from the valve using adjustable pliers. Turn the hose connector clockwise to unscrew and remove. Repeat this procedure with the cold water supply hose. Pull out the screen from each hose with needle-nose pliers and rinse under warm water to clean. Replace the screens.
    • 7 Replace both water supply hoses on the washer valves and the washing machine and tighten them with adjustable pliers. Slide the washing machine back into place and level the legs by slightly lifting the front of the washing machine and setting it back down.

Cold water couldn't get into machine

Check the valve and make sure it didn't get turned off, then I suspect the water valve has gone bad. try swapping cold and hot hoses on the back of the machine and see if you get cold water when it calls for hot that tells me your water valve is either bad or plugged with sediment. Check the screens on the back of the washer where the hoses go into the washer make sure they are clean. If they are clean and still not getting water through the cold side then the selenoid valve is bad and needs replaced. An easy job you can do your self and save some money.
Here is a lionk for parts and a diagram. If this was helpful a vote with the thumbs up would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The washing machine won't fill with water at all. we have cleaned the pump valve and we have checked the water lines. are there any other things that could be causing this problem?

You will want to check and make sure the door handle/lock is switching on. the front load unit will not fill with water with the door open. Check that the latch is engaging.

My washer allows hot water to fill but can't get the cold water to fill washer . i check the screen and water supply are ok . someone told me it could be a cold water solinoled valve

That is the likely problem if all else was clean. The cold water solenoid cannot be replaced alone. The whole water inlet valve will need to be replaced. They are usually inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help testing a water inlet valve

Ty for being here. I have a kenmore stack washer

Inside the machine you have a valve called inlet.

The inlet water valve will collect the cold and hot water lines, and open alternatively one or the other during cycle.

To access the inlet valve you need to take apart the machine, and that is not an easy task.
If you DIY remember to unplug power, there is high voltage running inside your appliance.

Below the inlet valve for your model:

Washer will not fill with water

First check the power, does the machine do anything?

then turn off the washer and water to the washer. take off the hoses and make sure the screens in the hoses are not plugged with rust and junk, also check the valve on the machine to make sure there is no gunk, clean as needed. a preventative maintenance tip the Hoses should be replaced every five years, you can buy them at Walmart or any good Hardware store.

Put hoses back on and turn on water, check for leaks! start machine check each water selection, Hot water, cold, and warm do these all work? if so great, if you only get Hot water and never cold or warm you probably need a mixing valve, Google parts for you machine, there are lots of websites that will sell you parts.
