Question about HP Photosmart 3210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

I just bought the HP Photosmart D110 and thinking I knew it all, put the black cartridge in the color slot (yes, it's RIGHT THERE) right before I realized I was putting the wrong one in. Unfortunately, HP (who I am on the phone with RIGHT NOW) says there's no way to do it and I need a replacement printer. OMG! I cannot believe it! They told me to gently push down on the two plastic prongs attached to the cartridge and pull towards me but the cartridge won't budge. Is there NO way to get this darn printer out of the wrong slot other than send the entire printer back to HP and wait another 5-7 business days for a replacement? Signed, I thought I knew it All

SOURCE: HP Photosmart 7550 printer

There are some print head cleaning modes you may want to try.
In your menus , look around for those and run the print head calibrations and cleaning procedures.
Also with the printer unplugged. Dampen an cloth with some rubbing alcohol and remove the print cartridges, lightly clean all the contacts with that damp cloth.
They may just have some ink on the contacts giving you a false failure message.
Hope this helps you out. They can be fickle.

SOURCE: The ink cartridge I replaced in my printer is not working.

I have one of these printers (7210-7310) with this same problem and this is what is wrong with it. There is a small wire spring that holds the ink cartridge in place in each cartridge holder. Remove the color cartridge and inspect the ribbon cable (it gray) inside the ink cartridge holder. There is a big problem with these HP printers where the spring pokes a hole the ribbon cable breaking one of the wires and rendering the printer useless. Poor design by HP, sorry.

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.

Hp photosmart c4480 is saying that the ink is not compatible and wont print

Hello,

Make sure you are putting the right cartredge into the right slots. Some printers have the same size cartridge for all the colors and black. If you put one in the wrong slot the printer will not be able to recognize the electronic part of it. Also make sure to remove all the little plastic / tape that is usually on the cartridge when you first buy it.

If you know you put it in the right slot, try taking it out and placing it back it. It might need a simple "re-seat". If this still does not work, you may have a defective product. You then have a choice to buy another ink cartridge (note, you can not return opened ink). Or buy a new printer. IF the printer is under warranty you might want to take advantage of that as well.

Regards,
Chris

How do you install the ink cartridges?

With the printer on, pull down the cartridge door (the front section above the paper tray). This puts the carriage on the right hand side. Remove the tape from the new cartridge without touching the copper area. With the HP logo up, push the cartridge slightly down and forward until it snaps in. The color cartridge goes in the left slot and the black goes on the right. Push firmly to ensure the cartridge is fully in place. Close the cover and press OK in response to the onscreen prompts. (Confirm installation and then align the cartridge.) If the test page come out correctly press OK at the status page (in the LCD menus).
