Sorry to be bringing you the bad news, but chances are, the Memorex is a goner. You could still of course try removing the actual/internal hard drive, connect it to an IDE/SATA to USB adapter and see if that in turn would be recognized by any of the computers. If yes, then it is the electronic/data interface of the Memorex that is defective. If likewise not also, then the actual hard drive is faulty. If the hard drive still spins and makes no mechanical noises, there is a slim chance that the contents could be recovered using file recovery software such as GetDataBack.

Code 43 is the death code - the pc simply cannot communicate with the attached device because the device is not working. This means that the Memorex is dead . Since the electronics board inside it cannot be repaired or replaced it means that yo must buy a new one.
