Question about Magellan GPS 310 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

My 310 has not been used for quite awhile, and was stowed with batteries in. I have put new batteries in, set the location date and time(and have double checked these). The unit will track satellites but will not compute a fixed position. As I said I have double checked the date and time as the troubleshooting page tels me to do,. What next?

Try this from the Magellan support site
First do an EZStart setup procedure, the procedure is on page 10 of the user manual, I've copied it for you.

Before using your GPS 310 for the first time, the receiver

needs to know its approximate location. Using Magellan's

EZStart procedure, the GPS 310 will prompt you for the

information it requires when you turn it on for the first time.

You do not need to initialize your receiver each time you use

it. Follow these steps to initialize the GPS 310 if this is the

first time you are using it.

1. Press PWR to turn the GPS 310 on.

SELECT REGION. Use the ARROW pad to change the

flashing text to select the appropriate region for your

present location. Press ENTER

2. SELECT COUNTRY or STATE. Use the ARROW pad

to change the flashing text to select the country or state for

your present location.
Press ENTER

IF THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS DO THE FLLOWING:
Hold the right arrow while powering the GPS up, the unit then brings you to the clear memory screen. clear memory and the next time you power up you can re-initialize your system and the unit works.

IF THIS FAILS YOU WILL NEED TO SEND THE UNIT IN FOR REPAIR

    If the above steps did not fix the problem try removing the battery for a minute and then do the reset one more time, also you did not say that you did this, I see nowhere in your 1st post that you completed the EZStart procedure, I am trying to help here..

    IF THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS DO THE FLLOWING:
    Hold the right arrow while powering the GPS up, the unit then brings you to the clear memory screen. clear memory and the next time you power up you can re-initialize your system and the unit works.

    If none of this works you have a defective GPS and you will need to contact Garmin customer service for repair.

I just purchased a 2005 cadilllac srx v8 n i cannot get the third row seat tto function? Help?

Rear Seat Switches
There are three push button switches that are used to operate the power folding seat; front stow switch, rear stow switch, and recline switch. The front stow switch is located in the right rear quarter trim panel just behind the second row seat. The rear stow and recline switches are located in the right rear trim panel just inside the liftgate. Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to all three switches from the FFS SW Fuse located in the left rear fuse block. The folding seat will operate only in a supervised mode, i.e. press and hold the selected switch button through the entire cycle of operation, or release the switch when the desired seat position is reached. When any folding seat switch is pressed, it sends a 12 volt signal through the switch signal circuit to the RSM. The RSM then commands the appropriate seat motors to move in response to the switch signal.
Rear Seat Module and Power and Ground
The rear seat module controls the position of the third row seat. When commanded it moves the seat from the seated position to the stowed position, or, from the stowed position to the seated position. With the seat in the seated position, the RSM can also move the angle of the seat back forward or rearward.
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the module through the battery positive voltage circuit and the FFSM fuse located in the left rear fuse block. This voltage is used to power up the RSM and also to apply power to the seat motors when commanded. The RSM is grounded through the module ground circuit and G401.
The first place to start would be check the fuse's .Do you know where the left rear fuse block is located ? Fuse Block - Left Rear
In the passenger compartment, near the left side of the rear seat under the carpet
If the fuse is good next thing to do would be ,have check for DTC'S in the rear seat module ! This has nothing to do with check engine light or OBD 2 diagnostic trouble codes an a code reader for said OBD2 codes will not work . Would need a factory scan tool to check these codes.
DTC B1395
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the rear seat load floor switch and the rear seat position switch by the rear seat module (RSM). The RSM monitors these battery positive voltage supply circuits for the protection of internal circuitry of the module.
DTC B1395 Device Voltage Reference Output 1 Circuit
DTC B1420 Device Voltage
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the seat adjuster switch and the memory seat module (MSM) through the same circuit. The MSM uses this battery voltage input to determine if battery positive voltage is applied to the seat adjuster switch.

How do I set my sharp atomic clock. Put in new batteries and set time and date on back of clock but the outside temp is not registering?

That makes scence, you have to have an outside temperature probe. If it is wireless it also needs batteries. Check manual for more details.

Why does the date/time on my L18 keep changing itself

This indicates that the built-in battery of the camera is damaged.(All digital cameras have a tiny built-in battery)

Replace that battery and you'll be OK. Don't ask me how to do that change. Get the manufacturer to point you to the location of that built-in battery or put it to a service centre.

Computer start but monitor goes in power safe mode . What can I do ?

Typically, this happens on a computer which is a few years old, since its batteries will have run out after such a long time.

The motherboard battery is used to store various settings, such as date and time, when the mains power is off. When your computer detects an empty battery, it goes into a low-power mode.

The solution is to replace the button-cell battery on the motherboard of your computer:

  • open the case of your computer;
  • visually locate the motherboard (the main electronic circuit board) of your computer;
  • visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
  • remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
  • restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages during the start-up sequence, but ignore them);
  • set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
  • you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time settings when you disconnect the computer power cord, since there is no motherboard battery present to store them;
  • take the motherboard battery to an electronics store and get a replacement;
  • install the new battery in your computer;
  • restart your computer, and set the date and time again; the settings will now be saved using motherboard battery power.

Are you sure you put them in with the correct polarity facing the right way. Its a common mistake.
Also try a "known" set of batteries just to make sure.

Bios date and time problem

You need to replace the cmos battery in your computer. Theu are usually Cr2032 batteries which you should be able to pick up for about £1.

unplug your computer and open the case.
When you look at the motherboard you should be able to easily locate the cmos battery cliped onto the mobo.
Take the old battery out and insert the new one.
put the case back on and plug the pc into the mains again.
You will need to re-enter the date etc the next time you boot up, but the settings should be retained after that.
