SOURCE: tub has a sour smell &does not seem to be rinsing soap out of clothes

The first thing to do is to CHECK IN AND AROUND THE RUBBER DOOR BOOT (called a bellow) for small articles of clothing (like socks and underwear) that may have gotten lodged in behind the rubber. Pull the rubber back where it meets the wash tub and look behind it. It is common for small items to get stuck here, become forgotten and start to mildew. You should check this area after each wash and clean it periodically to get rid of the formation of soap scum, mold, and mildew. HINT: When you get ready to wash a load of towels, take a dirty towel and clean the door boot thoroughly (including the areas behind the rubber). Immediately place the towel in the wash and run it on a sanitary cycle. This way you eliminate the need for cleaning rags.

PERIODICALLY RUN THE WASHER ON A CLEANING CYCLE. Place the washer on the hottest setting you have (usually a Sanitary cycle) with nothing but bleach in the wash tub. Some newer models actually have a "Clean Cycle" available now just for this purpose. This helps keep the wash tub, drain lines and pump sanitized.

CHECK AND CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER. Accumulations of debris in the drain pump filter can also cause odors. HINT: If you own a shop vac, pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line. This will drain any residual water left in the tub, pump and drain lines BEFORE you remove the drain pump cover. This will prevent a messy clean up later.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN IF POSSIBLE. When not in use, leave the door open to allow the tub to air out and to keep mold and mildew from forming on the door bellow. I know this may not be desirable in some households with small children. If too much mildew forms on the rubber and it cannot be removed, replacement of the bellow may be required.

NOTE: This problem is common with front loader style washing machines. The doors on these machines have an air tight/water tight seal that is great for sealing the washer during the wash cycle, but can be terrible for collecting small garments and for not allowing the tub to properly air out when not in use. Following these simple preventive measures can go a long way towards preventing harmful mold and mildew, and towards extending the life of the door bellow and pump.

SOURCE: Washer is not rinsing soap off of clothes after

Do not overload machine. Do not use too much detergent. Do you have enough cold water pressure? Is the water level correct for the load?

Soap is not rinsing out of my clothes. It has been getting worse and worse. Even if I use a tiny bit of detergent.

The obvious question is how do you know that it is soap? What washing machine is it? The biggest problem with most washing machines is that people use too much soap to begin with. I would go to a store and get a new t-shirt or something. Run the machine with nothing in it. Then put the shirt in and run it again without adding any soap. When it is done check the shirt for soap. There could be a build up on the inside of the drum.

How do I get an lg washer model number wm2301wh into a test mode

The machine tests itself when power is applied, if there is a problem it will indicate the problem via an error code on the display. If you suspect that the machine is not rinsing properly I assume that there are soap suds or residue on the clothes.
This is usually an indication that you're using too much detergent for the clothes you are washing. Try reducing the amount of detergent by half. Then, if the clothes do not appear to be as clean as they should be, increase the amount slightly for each load, until the clothes do get clean.

Error code sd

Hi,

sd means suds, for either the wrong soap was added or just had too much soap. Rinse out washer, you can use a small cap full of oil (like the oil cap) to deactivate the soap. Then rinse out washer again, this should fix or correct this issue.

Good Luck

My washer is saying LE, what does LE mean? It stopped washing!

Is this a new installation?
In new installations, this error can sometimes present because of a miscommunication between the control panel and the wash motor. In this instance, the washer simply needs to be reset.

Step 1: Unplug the washing machine.
Step 2: While the washer remains unplugged, press and hold the [Start/Pause] button on the front panel for 5 seconds.
Step 3: Plug the unit back in, and run a rinse and spin cycle to test if the LE code is cleared.

Are there soap suds visible in the drum?
Over-sudsing is the main cause of LE error codes. Using non-HE (high efficiency) detergents or too much detergent will cause stress on the motor. In addition, detergent residue can also cause leaking and odor. Follow these steps to resolved an LE error code caused by over-sudsing.

Step 1: Unplug the washer and allow the unit to sit for 30 minutes to give the suds time to dissolve.
Step 2: Plug the washer back in and press [Power] to turn on the washer.
Step 3: Do not choose a washing cycle. Press the [Spin Speed] key until "No Spin" is selected.
Step 4: Press [Start/Pause] to begin a drain only cycle.
Step 5: After the drain only cycle has completed, remove the clothing items from the machine. Turn the power back on and select [Rinse and Spin] and then press [Start/Pause]. This will remove excess soap suds and light residue from the drum. Repeat this step until no visible suds are in the drum of the washer.

Hope this helps.

My top loading washer has an error code of Sd, don't know what that means??

Sd means suds was detected. "Sd" is displayed when the control senses drag on the basket. Too much soap makes the motor work harder causes it to overheat and generally suffer a beating. The wrong soap also triggers this. Also An item of clothing jamming the basket can trigger this warning. The control has a program to remedy it. Filling, rinsing, and rechecking all in the name of making sure yall's clothes ain't got no soap in em. If the control cannot fix the probo after trying a bunch of times, then it declares an error has occurred and everythang comes to a screechin halt.

Has a large load size been used with a gentle wash setting?

Gentle wash cycles such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should only be used for smaller loads. Because the cycles are more gentle while tumbling and spinning, too many items in the drum can register as an issue with the motor. In this instance reset the unit and run a test rinse and spin cycle.

Has the washer been overloaded?

Single bulky items or large loads can add extra weight to the drum and place stress on the motor. Remove some of the clothing and restart. If the issue is still present after a few items have been removed, unplug the washer for 30 minutes to allow the motor to cool and then restart the cycle.

NOTE: Make sure the drum is not overloaded
