Earpiece

Be certain your radio is turned off when you initially plug in the earpiece, then after turning on the radio, immediately press the PTT on the earpiece. On most models this initialization syncs the earpiece PTT to the radio. We have experienced a few older model radios which require the radio's PTT to be pressed once, followed by the eapiece's PTT, to initialize, but this is rare. The other possiblity is the earpiece was not made to match the radio you are using it on. The position of the rings on the 2.5mm and 3.5mm jacks can make a difference between models of radios.

Best regards.

Yaesu VC-27

Hi Jon,

If this is the earpiece that came with the radio & it states that vox is available for the radio, then Yes would be the answer to your query.

But if you are trying to use a yaesu VC-27 vox earpiece with another Make of radio, say - Icom, then no would be the answer, as each manufacturer, programs each radio/earpiece with vox to work only with their radios.

I hope that clears up your query.

Cheers,
Peter

Why can't i hear people when they try to talk to me.

Possible that the earpiece is defective or there are errors in the circuit. The earpiece can be checked using multimeter, if open must be replaced.
If not there is fault in the circuit and must be probed with a signal tracer

I cant hear people talking but they can hear me, and i can text

The problem with your phone is that the earpiece on your phone is bad that is why you cannot hear the party calling you or hear anything while you call.

All you need to do is to replace the earpiece on your phone and you will see that you can hear whoever you are talking to on your phone.

Change the earpiece on your phone and you will see that the problem is solved. meanwhile, you can keep using the headset pending the time you will replace the earpiece.

Take care.

Question about my cobra 200

no need to increase power output. you can take a radio with 100 watts and a radio with 10 watts that had had a modulation kit installed and the 10 watt radio will out talk the 100 watt radio ALL day long. the best thing to do would to put a mod kit in it and have the dead key cut back to 1/2 watt then put as little amp behind it. with those mods it will be loud and clear. hope that helps

Broke earpiece

It's doable, but you might wan't to consider buying a stand alone mic, they come pretty cheap. What you need is a speaker with internal amp, and a new pl jack - you cant just patch it into the wire that went into your earpiece, its a different kind of wire. When you go to radio shack or equivalent to get the jack, ask them to show you what kind and exactly how to go about it. Not very complicated, but maybe unnecessary. Good luck
