1 Answer

My blackberry is not resognising incoming messages from freinds whose numbers are stored on my SIM. It will display the mobile number but not the name of the person. eg: if john smith was to send me a SMS, I will receive the SMS text fine but it is the mobile number that is displayed as +61423456789 but not the name. This is only happening with SMS, when people call me their name is displayed on the screen. can you help?

Go to your 'contacts' and pull up the menu, select 'SIM Phone Book', select 'Copy All To Contacts'. After this the SMS should be updated with the contact info.

Is your phone shows the "No Sim" or "Insert Sim" or "Sim Rejected" or "Invalid Sim" error? If it is so I am here to help you. If your Blackberry 8100 shows the "No Sim" or "Insert Sim" error then remove your Sim from your mobile and place it again correctly. If your mobile shows the error message "Invalid Sim" or "Sim Rejected" the your phone is locked to a particular network. To fix this problem you need to unlock it. Use unlock code to unlock your Blackberry 8100 . To get the code you have to submit network provider, country and IMEI number of the mobile. Make sure yourself whether you have knew the network provider to which your mobile is locked, country to which the locked network belongs to and IMEI number of your mobile. If not you can find the IMEI number in two ways:
1)Go to Options>status
2)Find IMEI on the back of your mobile, behind the battery.
3)Type *#06# and press call button. It will display your IMEI number.
You can find the network provider to which your mobile is currently locked by switch off your mobile and switch on it again. A logo of the locked network will get displayed on your mobile screen. After knew all these get the code from the site WickedUnlock.com ,by submitting these to them. Unlock it yourself using unlocking instructions which is given in the site itself.

I have bought Nokia E63 mobile. I have saved all the contacts from my sim card to my mobile, but while receiving the incoming calls the names are not displayed in the mobile and only the mobile numbers are...

The problem here would be duplicate contacts. When a call comes it searches the number in the Phone and SIM and displays the name pointing to that. Here in your case I suppose the same contact with the same number would be entered twice ( SIM + Phone) and phone gets confused which name to display and it shows just the number instead of name.
To solve this what you can try is to disable the SIM contacts from displaying. To do that go to Menu>Contacts>Options>Settings>Contacts> Contacts to display - Select Phone Memory only.
Hope this helps. Good Luck. ~SmokinJoe~

I just unlocked a blackberry 8100 from t mobile to use on the att network and the t mobile sim still works with my phone however when I put the att sim card into the blackberry I get a message on the phone...

It hasn't been unlocked, try again and follow these instructions:

Model : T-mobile BlackBerry Models
1 – On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen appears.
2 – In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.
3 – Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.
4 – Type ‘mepd’ to display the first five levels of SIM locking.
T-Mobile uses network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled
Please note: For the Blackberry 7100t you will hit the “P” twice when entering the ‘mepd’ and ‘mep2′ for steps 4 & 5.
5 – Type ‘mep2′ to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2)
6 – Input the Network Unlock code
7 – Press ENTER and reboot handheld.
Model : BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (Alternative instructions if above instructions do not work)
Can be done without a sim card inserted
To Unlock:
1 – While on the home screen, click the “blackberry key” on keyboard, then select “options”.
2 – Choose “Advanced Options”.
3 – Select “Sim Card”
4 – There is no area to type these letters, you just type them as instructed. No need to hit keys twice to get a letter either. Type m e p p d to display the first five levels of SIM locking. Most companies use network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled ( you will not see text appear on screen
while typing )
5 – Type m e p p 2 to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code
(Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2) ( you will not see text
appear on screen while typing )
6 – Input the SIM Unlock code
7 – Press in the trackball in once
Your phone is unlocked
