Then i think the capacitors is bad in power board

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 18, 2008

it would cost $760 to fix

there are 2 boards, one is a power supply and other is control board

The board is supposed to cost $550 and then $210 labor to fix the power supply and install the new part

power surge due to high voltage could have damaged ur boards,

use a voltage regulator box to prevent this in future.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 18, 2008

sorry it was not control board

it is LOGIC BOARD , X and Y SUSTAINERS.
their life is only around 7 years. there is several different circuits in the tv that can cause this problem.

and so i have mentioned u almost all the possible problems.

    thank you

dont forget to accept the solution if u go by it.

    good luck

    have a good day

Why won't my Toshiba dvr 620 not coming on?

Parts like you're needing are nearly impossible to find. More than likely the same thing happened to yours as the one I have in my shop. Sometimes during power surges, spikes, and lightening strikes, things get damaged. I found in the 2 units I have worked on, one, it was as simple as a blown fuse, which if that is what happened to yours, it's an easy fix and should not cost more than $40 to repair. Or, if you're savvy on fixing things, about a $5 250V fuse is all you need and about 30 minutes time.
In the case of the second DVR it had bypassed the fuse, and the fuse was fine, but wiped out the transformer on the power supply. In my case I can not find part 08046871041 which is just the transformer to repair the power supply, nor can I find part 08246871060 which is the complete power supply. Good luck search, if you get lucky and find one please let me know where I can find it at, I have also researched for replacement parts that would work with no luck.

Onkyo sound popping / protected shows in the display

It depends on what happened to the receiver. Have you tried to connect up the unit to the wall socket yet, without the Monster power strip? If that does not help you, and the unit still gets pops and goes into protect mode, you have an issue with one of the output stages in the amp. I'm afraid that this type of repair can only be diagnosed by a tech who knows how to trouble shoot solid state amplifiers. You may also contact Monster cable, as if you can get the tech to agree with you on the cause of the problem, most of the Monster Cable power strips come with a warranty against this problem from happening and will pay for the repair. Good Luck

I have a panosonic plasma 42 inch tv. After a storm all I get when I turn it on is black and white static but all the menus display fine

Look to see if the rear video/audio inputs work (DVD etc) and if they do the damage is at the tuner in the set (nearby lightening can discharge into the cable or wires for signal.)

If using a box (cable or satellite) it may have took the hit.

A good idea if lightening storm is to not only unplug set (static discharge can come in via the power cord also) but disconnect signal source from set.

I have in extreme cases seen a nearby strike get in via the power lines and destroy almost every appliance plugged in even if not on.

My laptop is completely dead

Does the power cord not work? Did your laptop battery completely die and won't hold a charge? Anything happen to it recently like hardware/memory installation or did it get dropped? No power outages or lightening strikes?

Twice now our router has failed to work after lightening strikes. The UPS means its lights still flash etc but the router itself does not work. Why does the UPS not protect it and what do we need to do...

A UPS is generally not designed or manufactured to protect against lightning strikes and / or power surges. Its purpose is ensure that whatever it is supplying power to does not turn off in the event of a power outage. You would be better served by getting a lightening protection strip from a hardware store that comes with insurance against damge from lightening and power surges. Alternately at substantially more cost, you can have an electrician or lightening protection contractor install whole-house lightening protection. Lightening protection strips with insurance included are relatively inexpensive.

Please don't forget to rate this if you found this helpful.

Bright white screen with faint images

If lighting did strike, you would be suffering power supply problems, due to a power surge from the strike.
The problem sounds like it could be related to the LCD panel becoming faulty or if your able to test inside the unit with a multimeter, you can measure the voltages from the printed circuit boards, especisly those suppling power to the LCD panel as well as the Logic PCB, A small printed circuit board you will find either attatched to the LCD panel. I hope this helps.
Good luck.

LIGHTENING STRIKE

Ed,
Open the back and take a look at the saw tooth filter cap. It's the largest cap you'll encounter in the PS. Just follow the electrical cord onto the board and look for a VERY large electrolytic cap in that area. Usually they bow at the top on a strike like that. Replacing the cap might restore the unit.
If not do you have an esr meter?
