Does not boot when i placed 1G of ddram each on the two slots while it works when i remove the other ram

Hi,

As you said that it works when you connect one of the two so the forst thing that you can try is we need to check the slot if it is working fine .So put the card that is making the computer working to the other slot and check if the computer boots up to the desktop then it means that the slot is fine .

Similarly we will check the card if it is fine so insert one card at a time and if the computer does not boot up when one of the card is inserted then it tells us that the card is corrupt so exchange it.As the computer boots up with one card inserted so ther has to be an issue woth the card or one of the slots.

all the best......

Not working it is in guarantee

Not a lot to go on here. Is it not powering up, Powering up but the screen is coming on, Not making post? If it is under warranty and it is not powering contact Compaq through their website and arrange for repair. It will most likely be under Tech Support Heading.

How to jumpe SDRAM to DDRAM

according to my research- this mobo will support 2GB ddr400/333 sdram- 1GB in each slot. don't think it will support ddram. don't know if you can mix 400 and 333 bus speeds. probably can, but put 400 in slot 1. not sure ddram will even fit in ram slots!
good luck!

My meccer extreme keeps rebooting it has an asus p5gl-mx motherboard 512mb ddram

Reinstall the OS using a bootable OS CD. By the way, what is the OS you are using? Some OSes can be repaired without installing the whole thing.

Diff between SDRAM and DDRAM

Only one of those will work in any computer. Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory is older and slower, Double Density Random Access Memory is faster and DDR2 is newer. The notch in the connector edge will not match the RAM slot if you have the wrong one. Also the DDRAM has various speeds to match the bus speed of the motherboard so designators like PC2100, PC2700, PC3200, etc. are important and correspond to 266MHZ, 366MHZ, 400MHZ, and so on. Notebook use SODIMM RAM and have the corresponding DDR, DDR2 designators but still have notches that must match the slot. When you buy RAM just provide the model of your computer as each manufacturer has numbers that are all designed to confuse it seems and there may be no chance of exchanging the memory after you open the package. Jetway MoBo: 2 x 1GB Samsung PC2100 appearing as just 1GB (2 X512MB)

Hi,

Your post indicating that you are moving up from SDRAM to DDRAM shows that your motherboard is capable of either type (having both type of slots) and therefore would have been a few years old. Having said this, then your MB would have the very early version/compatibility of DDRAMs where/when 512 then was the highest readily available memory.

As most Taiwan manufacturers, Jetway would be publishing specs that are a bit just over rated in terms of their product performance unlike Asus, ABit, AOpen. Additionally, most have been known to be using the same manual for several versions of the motherboard. A similar looking motherboard can come in several versions such as those with internal video while another is an AGP slot; one versions may or may not have built-in Ethernet port. In the same token, a version may have 2 X SDRAM slots + 2 DDRAM slots or 4 X SDRAMs or 4 X DDRAMs. Again, we are talking of the same model number of the motherboard but different versions/revisions.

2 G would be right for the 4 X memory slots versions (at 4 X 512) but since you have the 2 + 2 (2 SDRAM + 2 DDRAM), maximum would only be 1 Gb (2 X 512).

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
