Okay - you can restore the machine by holding down ALT and tapping on F10 during the start up, turn the power on, and being pressing on both buttons together, let go, press again, let go, until acer recovery comes on the screen.

if this does not work then you need a windows installation cd.

it will be difficult to get the disc if you don't have one, you can see if acer still sells recovery cd's for your machine by clicking on this link

Factory reset from CD

Click the "Start" menu on your computer and choose "Accessories." Click "System Tools" and choose "Back up" from the list. This process will back up any files on your computer that you wish. When you reset your HP to its default settings, all documents, programs and other files on your computer will be lost. Back up anything you may need later. Follow the on-screen instructions to move through the back-up wizard. When given the option "Let me choose what to back up," select all programs or documents you want to save. If you're unsure whether you'll need it, back it up just in case. Insert a blank CD or DVD to save your files. Choose your CD drive from the "Back up location" option in the backup wizard. Keep multiple blank CDs or DVDs on hand. You'll need a lot of space, and typically several CD's, to back up all your information. Click "Finish" at the end of the back-up wizard and it will begin to burn information to the CD or DVD. When prompted, remove the CD and insert a new one. Continue until the computer is done backing up your information. Label each CD or DVD in the order you burn it. This way you can transfer your information back into the computer in the order you saved it. Check your CDs or DVDs to make sure the back up was complete by opening a file from the CD. Exit any open programs. You are now ready to start the restoration process. Click the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "System Recovery," and choose "PC Recovery." Choose "PC Recovery" again once the menu opens and click "Next." Your computer will restart automatically. When it turns back on, a welcome message for the PC Recovery software will display on screen. Click "OK." Select the "System Recovery" option to restore the computer to its default settings. Follow any on-screen instructions and wait for the computer to finish resetting your settings to the default. Insert your first back-up CD or DVD to start reinstalling your programs after boot-up. Open the files and save them to the computer. After you've saved everything from the first CD, continue on with the rest. Hope this helps.

How do I retrieve lost files on Toshiba satellite windows 7 system

If the computer was formatted and was untouched after you will need recovery software to get the data back GetDataBackNTFS is really good costs about $59. If the computer no longer boots into windows you will need to pull the drive out (Typically 2 screws on back) Should be a small panel with a picture of little discs on it. Plug it into another computer. If it is detected you can simply copy and paste to the second computer, then put the drive back into the laptop and use your system recovery discs to restore the computer back to factory default and copy your data back over. If you plug the drive into another computer and it is not detected, the drive is probably damaged and would require a data recovery company to retrieve the data this can cost from $500-2000 depending on the recovery method.

Acer a0a150 wont boot. About to erecovery and wipe out but never had a chance to back up. Any other options?

If you want to back it up you would need a second computer and a IDE/SATA to usb adapter, or if it is a sata drive you could open a desktop computer up and plug it in directly.
Power up the computer and copy desired files and your done.
We can make arrangements if needed for a data back up. I only charge $40 + shipping for a data back up.

You don't need to look for the jumper just remove the bios back up battery this size like a one peso coin and then turn on your computer without it, then your bios will be reset already. then turn off the computer back then put back the back up battery again. do this with the computer unplug to avoid electric shock. thanks!

Need cmos jumper location on Dell Dimension 8200 to bypass bios password

From what I can gather, you just need to locate the jumper labeled PSWD and remove it. Turn computer back on, then back off. Replace jumper pin and turn computer back on. That should do it. Removing the jumper disables password. Turning on computer resets it. Replacing jumper re-enables password capability.

I would reset your computer. CEL will stay on unless you clear the codes or reset the computer. To reset the computer you will need to pull the negative cable off the battery for 20 Seconds, place it back on for 5 seconds then back off for 20 seconds then back on for good. Thanks for using fixya!

My Monitor

Ok? first what you need to do is to hibernate your computer. You can do that by pressing the power button as long as you need for the computer to turn off. Then you turn your computer back on and press the power button ON THE MONITOR twice but you MUST do this really fast. Then what you need to do is to find a circuit breaker on the back of your computer. switch it to the off position then turn it back on. Then turn your computer on. This should fix your problem.
