Question about Intermatic & Indoor/Outdoor Rain Tight Timer

I have a tp104 p3 intermatic timer and the clock is not working it looks like the motor for the gears are working but the clock will not turn

Motor has plastic gears.
Timer wheel has metal gears.
If metal gears are not turning, and clock is turning, plastic gears are probably stripped.

And metal gears might be dirty and rusted.
Look close where plastic and metal gears meet.

2 solutions:
1) clean metal gears and replace clock motor
T-104 takes T-100 series 208-277V clock motor
Add a bit of white grease where trippers meet metal lever
Grainger sells parts.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

2) buy new T-104 and swap out insides without changing box

I have an Intermatic T104R201. Recently the dial stopped rotating - it was due to the clock motor (I confimred that it was not working thru the visual inspection slot). I replaced the clock motor with...

Take it apart and look at the gears. Clean up the gears and timer. make sure dial is all the way down into place.
Check that white clock wires are connected to terminals 1 and 3
WH40 timer is same mechanism as T104R201 except without fireman's switch.

Pool pump clock

T104M used WG1573 clock motor:

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-Intermatic-clock-motor.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#T100
The timer mechanism has metal gears, while the clock motor has plastic gears. If the metal gears get dirty and bind, it will strip the plastic gears.
Turn off power, pull timer out of box, Clean out timer with compressed air, and spray WD40, add a bit of white grease to lever where trippers make contact, then replace clock motor ... and buy another set of trippers to have on-hand since they are designed to wear down so timer will last longer.
If timer body is broken so dial does not rotate, then buy new T104 and snap new mechanism into old box. Buying whole T104 with enclosure is cheaper than buying T104M mechanism only.

30 yr old Dayton timer 2e214 clock motor good gears good, however dial movement spins freely

Dayton 2e214 is Grainger number that corresponds to Intermatic 120Volt T7801B 7-day timer.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Electromechanical-Timer-2E214
http://www.intermatic.com/products/ec%204%20layer/mechanical%20time%20switches/24%20hour%207%20day/t7000b%20series%207-day%20time%20switch.aspx

If the dial rotates freely, the gears are probably worn out or the clock motor is not connecting to gears any more, or the dial has come loose.
The replacement clock motor is WG1600-11, BUT I don't know if that motor will fix problem.
Turn power off, and release mechanism using thumb spring located top inside box and inspect gears while rotating dial.

My Intermatic T103 Indoor 120-Volt 40-amp timer emits a constant peeping sound

Intermatic T103 is mechanical timer with moving gears.
Timer makes audible sound when tripper clicks on-off, but it should not make constant noise unless gears are causing noise.
Turn off power and spray WD-40 on gears and see if problem continues.
WD-40 vapor is extremely flammable hydrocarbon when sprayed, and should not be sprayed on live electric circuits.
If problem continues, turn off power, pull mechanism out and spray WD-40 on plastic gears of clock motor.

Timer rotates but whenever it reaches the tripper to turn the lights on it gets stuck there. It's like there isn't enough power to rotat the switch to turn the lights on. Have checked the switch...

The clock motor gets weak and sticks on the tripper and then stops working.
Possible solution: Some people report they disassembled clock motor, cleaned the gears and added a bit of vaseline or white grease to gears because they get dirty.
Then afterward, you might try duct tape to seal unit from dust
Others report they got the clock motor apart and didn't mark parts and take photos along the way, and forgot how tiny gears went back.
My experience with clock motors, and motors in general, is when they slow down, they overheat and don't last much longer.
There are no replacement clock motors for ML series power packs, which is shortcoming since Intermatic makes replacement clock motors and modules for many of their products.

Work-around: Set timer to override, then plug power pack into cheap wall timer.

1 year old t101m timer stopped working. The manual on/off works but mechanical clock doesn't. Is there an easy fix or should I just repalce?

T101 dial is not working so the 125V clock motor needs to be replaced:
Grainger sells 125V T100 series clock motor:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Time-Clock-Motor-1PNK1?Pid=search

Timer mechanism releases from box with metal spring located inside top of box.
Clock motor is attached with 2 star screws.
Notice clock motor has plastic gears, but timer has metal gears.
Metal gears on timer mechanism last for many years.

Notice also that clock motor wires connect to terminals A and 1.
After installing new motor, tighten screws very tight against copper wire.

Add a comment for more free help.
Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, fixya expert speaks with you over phone while you work on timer.

The yellow time dial has stopped turning and the auto switch cannot activate the sprinklers

If I understand correctly, the manual override does not work, and the clock dial does not turn.

It seems odd that both things would happen together. Usually the clock motor stops but the manual override still works.

Check that your timer has electricity. Check your breaker. It sounds like the electricity is off.

Does your manual override snap clean and crisp, or it it sluggish? If the manual override is sluggish, the timer mechanism may be rusted.

Snap the timer out from the box and look at the condition of the gears, and the override lever. If the timer is rusty and the manual override does not snap clean and crisp, then the timer needs to be replaced. Buy a new timer and swap out the insides without changing the box.

You might need a clock motor

Snap out the mechanism and get the number off clock

Intermatic site shows pages of clock motors: They are priced high, but cheaper than new timer.

Aplus supply sells assortment of Intermatic clock motors.
http://www.aplussupply.com/intermatic/timermotors.htm

To search these pages quickly for your clock numbers, use browser Find (Click edit at top of bowser, click Find)

Intermatic has a page with manuals:
Open page, click plus next to timers and scroll down to sprinkler and irrigation timers

It's good to have the manual on hand in case the product is discontinued

The following is a link to the only site I have seen that sells just the gears for the Intermatic timer clock motors. I took my clock motor apart and this was the gear that was bad. The first link is to the site and the second link is to the picture of the gears to make sure it is what you are looking for. http://www.stuartsinger.com/ballclock.htm#Replacement Parts
