Question about GE Wireless Optical Mouse

Purchased a new GE Wireless Optical mouse from the clearance table at the local hardware store. It works fine, but looses it's link every 15-20 minutes it seems. Is this the nature of the beast, or can something be done to make it stay connected? Model 97990 Rev 5...

Batteries are brand new Maxell Alkaline AA's, The connectivity loss occurs during periods of idleness. If I keep using it or just moving it, its fine.

The mouse is brand new, and the original batteries test 'good to excellent'. The dongle is fully inserted in one of the USB 2.0 ports on the back of the computer chassis.

No joy... seems like the mouse turns off if left unattended, and moving it fails to re-establish a link. I'm thinking I'm gonna pitch it and buy something else with better support.

Welcome to Fixya.
Remove the batteries or replace the with new one. Remove the receiver from the PC. Reinsert and try to link them again. If you will be getting the same thing then this is already mouse problem.
Thank you for using Fixya!

One, make sure you are using good quality batteries.
two, on receiver end, make sure that the port you are using is OK..you could try to install it in a different usb port preferably those normally behind the PC ( directly on board) not the usb extensions.
three, try moving the receiver closer to the mouse. Items such as florescent lights, remote controls and large metal objects can cause interference and degrade the mouse's signal
four, make sure you have installed all OS updates.

If problem persists, then the mouse could be having a faulty or weak radio. consider getting another set of different brand.

Have you checked the battery inside? If the battery is good, then chances are the transceiver circuit inside the mouse is open or has a loose solder joint presenting an intermittent connection. Also, check the dongle that's connected to the USB port on the computer - sometimes it may not be inserted all the way in.

Optical wireless mini mouse 98763 feature #9 is

I had all the same problems listed in fixit and found that all it took was placing all NEW batteries in the mouse.
Press the blue light button on the USB and the little black reset button on the bottom of the mouse at the same time. Worked good from there on.

Hello,

I don't think we stay in the same location, so I would not know where to get the mouse in your area.

But you can order for the mouse from the link below:

I wish you all the best.

Mouse only worked for a couple of hours

Do you access the internet? Go to Control Panel->Add Remove Programs and remove this mouse. Reboot. Then install the mouse drivers again and after a reboot attach the mouse. Allow Windows to detect the mouse and loadup its drivers.
