If the printer was ok before the cartridge change and now the new or rebuilt one provides less than acceptable printing then the cartridge is usually the issue. You have this listed as a HP PSC110 printer is that correct??

I am getting faint prints

A full cartridge is not always the answer as the printer manufacture controls the chip data instructions. The chip needs to be re-flashed to make it work.

Faint grey printing

According to the service manual for problems with light print image, the cause can be the Developers or High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS). Other possible causes are given as: Developer roller is stained when the toner or developer cartridge is almost consumed. Ambient temperature is below 10 degrees Centigrade. Bad contacts with the HVPS or abnormal output from the HVPS. To replace the Developers you would need to purchase a replacement Imaging Kit CLP-R300A. Any problems in the HVPS would require a factory repair.

The printing is poor, all the colours are faint, it happens before and after I changed the cartridge.

If the print is faint with vertical striping pattern as show in the black of this picture.slamfix_41.jpg The problem is with the developer in the imaging unit. The problem can be fixed by either replacing the imaging unit for $100+ or you can fix it yourself by cleaning the imaging unit. You will need simple hand tools and if you are careful restore the print quality of your printer. I have a link to instructions that should help you http://www.fixya.com/support/r4120906-clean_developer_blades_samsung_clp_300 Hope this helps you.

Try to reseat your cartridges. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset itself. If that doesn't help, try to clean your cartridges and check if print quality improves. If you're using Windows, go to Start -> Programs -> Lexmark X74-X75 -> Lexmark X74-X75 Solution Center -> Maintenance -> Clean print nozzles to fix horizontal streaks.

In spite of changing the black toner cartridge and toner waste receptacle, the printing remains faint

OfficeJet G85 Makes Unreadable Copies

Usually, it's the print cartridge. I recently installed a new black cartridge on a 6110 printer and it, too, was very faint in printing. It turned out to be "dried up", even though it was a new cartridge in a sealed bag (but purchased in 2005).

Color Faded

This sounds like a typical Developer Drive failure. The Developer Drive for color is different that the black developer drive. This is why black can print fine, but colors are faint or non existant. see below,a recent bullitin about this exact issue from Dell. ( the ROS, is the printhead, and is located behind the 4 developers.

Print Quality Issue
1. Problem: - Color images are extremely faint or not produced, but black images are produced without any problem.
Resolution: - Replace Developer drive assembly (H6702) and clean ROS Window/Glass.
If you chose to persue this repair, you can probably find a replacement developer drive by doing either a google search for the part number listed ( H6702 ) or an ebay search for the same. We can also provide you with removal and replacement instructions.

Good Luck

Faint mirror image when printing

It's most likely one of 2 problems...the toner cartridge or the fuser. The toner cartridge transfer roller may still be charged and keeping a little bit of the previous page's information on it, to be transferred on the next sheet. I would try a different toner cartridge first to see if that solves it.
