Start by checking the filters on the unit. The filter cone and the little disk filter just above the cone are the perfect place to start.
Next see if there is something in the hose that may be blocking it. On this machine you can reverse **** the hose back into the canister.

look down the metal pipes for anything blocking the airflow there as well.

IF all of that is clear, and no blockage in the piping, then you may need to replace the belt on the power head. A lot of times this will stretch and not allow the unit to pick up properly.

Good luck with that.

Riccar 8995 no suction

I think you mean it's an 8955, Riccar has not had a 8995 model. If there is no suction in the hose it has to have something clogging it. Open the little round opening on the back of the vacuum where the hose attaches to see if you have suction there.

Miele Callisto keeps turning itself off and has poor suction

Hi there, You don't actually specify how long it takes to turn off but this is normally due to a blockage in the hose or due to excessively dirty filters. Given that you have said the suction is low i would be inclined to think you have a blockage in your hose. Remove the hose and test suction of the machine again. If you have a notable improvement it is telling you something is stuck in the hose which you will need to remove.

My dyson 25 appears to have no suction. The brush does not turn when trying to sweep(it turns manually). I don't know what to check for to correct this problem. Please help!

Hi, there's a large turning knob on the left side right side if stand behind with an arrow and markings. Hold up right and turn wich ever wy of least resistance. Acts as a sort of gear.

If you have the unit in the upright position, this too will disengage the brush.

Plenty of suction from the hose pipe itself but no suction when vacuuming the carpet

Hello Can,

Go through this guide to help find the issue www.builtinvacuum.com/flowchrt.html. You should have suction without a filter. The bottom is on the unit, right? It needs to be air tight.

DC 14 low reach without good suction

Not sure, but there are one or two more possibilities. There are so many Dyson models that It's easy to confuse them, but I think the DC14 has a short length of clear plastic tube leading from the beater bar area to the rest of the vacuum system. Sometimes this tube develops a crack, with the result that air flow around the beater bar is reduced. I suggest you check that. If you also have reduced suction from the hose, you will need to remove and inspect for blockages in the U tube at the base of the wand fitment, and also in the inspection port which is to the right of that (two yellow buttons to be squeezed to remove it, I think). If none of this helps, please post more details, if you can, and I'll try again. Good luck!

No suction.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My question would be does the vacuum turn on and if it does are you getting any suction? Sometimes the uprights and the canisters - if the top or front cover are not on securely you will not get suction, but your question does not tell me what brand, model or serial # it is and other wise I could give you a website address and phone # to try to further assist you in your question with FixYa. Otherwise we need more information to further assist you with your question.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man
