Question about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

The rear display does not come on when camera is powered on but the picture will display when a picture is taken. I believe the batteries were put in incorrectly and attempted to be powered on just prior to this symptom. Any suggestions?

Hi
In many cameras there is a setting or a button that lets you turn off the preview picture while shooting pictures but still shows it to you after you have shot a picture. If you could post / confirm the brand and model of your camera I'll know more about it.

The Dips. button on the back of the camera, where the screen is, bottom right of the camera.

this toggles the display On - On with current settings being shown on the screen - Off

When we taking picture, the image not displayed in the screen

Can you view the pictures on he screen after you have taken a picture. If so, perhaps the brightness of the display is too low to see anything. Or perhaps the battery is almost empty and the camera is trying to save power.
Remove the battery and charge it on an external charger.

Hi, re Olympus U840 my lens won't retract and I am hearing a musical sound from my camera. It won't take pictures, but I can review pictures already taken...is it fixable? Thnaks, Mark.

If the camera was dropped and cannot take pictures, then it is in need of professional repair, I believe.

Reviewing pictures already taken means that the memory and display on the back are ok. But, taking pictures involves mechanical issues that have been compromised, unfortunately.

No picture on the Display of any kind , not showing my pictures ive taken or any display at all ..............battery is fully charged and lens is working and have checked all settings and firmware is in...

Use the camera and take some picture with it,.Now connecct to doenloadd or take the memory card to download to the PC to see if the pictures taken have come out well. If so we have confirmed the display to be faulty. You will need to be experienced to look into this section and then if confirmed to get a replacement may be difficult in the open market. So take opinion from the Kodak service centre to check out if the display driver / power circuit or the display is the confirmed faulty device. get estimate and decide . Good day

I am not getting an image either through the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. The display is clear and bright and the batteries appear to be fine.

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

My brand new just put batteries in it powershot is displaying NO IMAGE. the lens won't even pop out! what the hell?

LOL, sounds like you're in "picture review" mode. Except that you haven't taken any pictures yet, so there's "NO IMAGE" on your card just yet. To take a picture, you need to put your camera in "camera" mode. Slide that tiny slide switch in the upper right all the way up until it's next to that little red camera. Now take a picture.

Canon Powershot SD 1100ES - display problems

My mother has this model camera. I believe there is a setting in the main menu that will allow an energy saving mode that sets the display time or no display. If not it's under warranty and your retailer should replace it if it is within 30 days of purcase date.

I hope this helps, goood luck!

No picture display when taking shot. Blank pictures produced when shot taken.

Solution:
Ebay has used cameras (DX4530) for about $75.00 with shipping. Kodak's repair service for these cameras is done by mailing in the camera -- and the baseline starting price is about $140.
I'm planning to go to Ebay and buying from a seller with a good track record and reputation.
