Question about Ingersoll Rand 2135Ti Air Impact Wrench

1 Answer

Have a Ingersoll Rand 2135 ti impact wrench with a trigger that sticks in. Don"t know if it needs a spring in the trigger part or if there is another problem. Took it apart and cleaned it and oiled and put it back together and same thing?

like previous person posted, take it apart. you will find the "Tipper Valve" either broken or rod loose. You can find replacement parts on amazon. It is an Ingersoll Rand 2135-K303 Inlet Kit for 2115TIMAX Impact Wrench. the tipper valve is the same on almost all Ingersoll Rand Impacts. When you reassemble the tool make sure the direction control valve is in the correct position. with the trigger valve out, you can see the direction control valve still in the handle housing. this valve has is controlled by the direction control buttons. If that valve is out of postion (which it shouldnt be if those buttons didnt come out), just pry the buttons out and turn the valve 180. Then push buttons back evenly. then reassemble the rebuilt trigger valve with the new tipper valve in place, center the trigger as close as you can and it will pop in.

I have the same problem, and a fellow co-worker of mine told me about the problem. here it is.. on the handle there are two slots on either side, push them in and the air inlet assembly should pop out along with a broken tiny metal rod.. this rod connects to the inlet valve and turns on and off ur impact wrench.. i have been looking for replacement parts but cant find any.. hope this helps you and maybe help me too..

Ingersoll Rand 2100G air impact wrench turns when air is hooked up. I can stop it by hand and then use it with the trigger, and it works fine, but it continues to run even when I let the trigger go. What...

The I.R. 2100G shares parts with the 2135 series impact, the throttle valve seal on these models have a tendency to wear out or deteriorate casing the throttle valve to by pass air. On the model 2100G the parts in question is only sold as an assembly (item# 22).
But you can disassemble the inlet bushing and install an inlet parts kit p/n 2135-K303, it includes all the necessary parts.
I will provide to links for you to look at

I have a ingersoll rand 231c 1/2 impact wrench that is almost brand new, have had no problems with daily use until today when the trigger will not move.

The IR231c is equipped with a throttle valve stem (item # 9) that is prone to oxidation and causes a stuck trigger condition. Remove the air strainer assembly (item # 10), followed by the spring (item # 8) then the throttle valve (item # 6) you will see the throttle valve stem (item # 9) spray some penetrating lube, if severely stuck it may be necessary to remove the trigger and pushing the throttle valve stem from the top.

Ingersoll Rand impacts have o-rings that are mounted in the housing or on the valve that are susceptible to swelling and causing the reverse valve to stick!
if you know the model number, follow this link to find the appropriate manual to see the valve set up.

You can purchase a repair kit from Ingersol that will have the spring and pin. You will need to make sure the fitting on the inlet that has the screen installed is still there or the pin and spring will come out again
