Contact your dealer or one on-line. They'll sell anything for money. There's also a good workbook available although expensive. But worth it.

SOURCE: Baby Lock Evolve wire Looper threading tool

You have to get the replacement wires from a Babylock dealer, I did too then after sticker shock at the price of that wire I learned to make a thread cradle and use that to thread difficult threads no. Take about 24 inches of regular sewing thread and fold it in half, put the open ends (together, same legnth) into the jet air port and hold onto the loop end, press the jet air threader and it will thread the machine, insert the thread you want to use into the loop you have in your hand and pull it thru the machine using the ends of the thread you put thru the machine, sounds harder than it is and works all the time. No more spending $8 on replacement wires. You can use this method for all the jet air sergers.

I have a baby lock 5380E & can't seem to thread it correctly to make it stitch properly. Please help! I know it has to do with threading the upper & lower loopers correctly,

Hopefully you have the manual. It helps to use 4 different colors of thread so you'll be able to differentiate which thread is presenting a problem.

Just thread each thread as though it were the only one, like a sewing machine. Make sure you thread each in the proper order or it will most likely never work. AND ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading and give each thread an extra little tug when going through the tension disk so the thread will seat completely.

Set the tension disks to the midway point, so they are all set about the same. Then test.

If something goes haywire, just bite the bullet, remove ALL the threads and start over threading from the beginning. Believe me, it very seldom works to try to re-thread only one thread...

It took me an entire day to get my new-used serger threaded properly. So don't despair... You might look around for a beginning serger class.

My aunt just gave me this Baby Lock Pro Line Serger BL4-738D 4 Thread Is this a good machine.

Baby Lock is a very good serger. Have you ever used one before? If not, be sure to read through the manual carefully before you try to use it. They're not just like other sewing machines. Enjoy.

INSTRUCTION MANUEL

I have a friends Baby lock BL 5180. She could not get it to work so I brought it home. I thought it was probably just the way it was threaded so I rethreaded the machine and noticed that the feed dogs are not moving. The machine works but will not pull the material into the machine.

Perhaps was same as my problem.

Call your local service shop. Baby Locks in closets for years often have this problem The manual recommends annual maintenance by a pro, and they will oil the internal lobes of the feed dog apparatus. It cannot be oiled from the outside, nor with covers off, but must be taken apart. If those lobes lose the oil and heat up you will feel "surging" then slowing repeatedly -- fast then slow then fast etc -- until the lobes over heat and sort of weld themselves to that small barrel looking case. So a Baby Lock can sew, then temporarily be sluggish then later slow till sluggish; and at worst, seem to be doing everything right BUT not advancing the cloth -- that's when the worst damage is done and professional repair is needed. In PA might cost $150 to fix. $70 in parts; $80 in labor (2012 prices)
Been there, done that.

I have never used a serger before and a friend is letting me use hers. There is string on the machine, but how do I put the colors I want on and get it to the needle? The machine is a Baby Lock BL3-417. ...

here's a tip I learned for sewing machine or serger

do one thread cone at a time-the cone or spool that's on the serger--cut the thread close to the cone-then remove the cone from the serger ,,don't remove the thread that you just cut from the serger,,now put your thread on the spindle & tie your thread to the thread that you just cut (make sure it's a small knot) now the thread that's in the needle pull until the thread that in the needle is your & then cut off the other thread & make sure to cut of the knot part & leave a thread tail of 4 to 6 inches

do each spindle this way

I need a replacement manual for Babylock Xscape BL66

You will need to contact a BL dealer to order a manual, if any are available. This model has been replaced.

There is a threading guide in on the inside of the door on the front of the serger.

Raise the presser foot and set the tension controls to zero.

Turn the handwheel until the upper looper (curved looper) is at it's highest point - there may be a mark on the side of the serger and handwheel for aligning to this point.

Thread the upper looper first, then the lower looper, then the needles.

Pull the threads under the presser foot and to the left side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to 4 - 6 setting, lower the presser foot and stitch a chain before serging fabric.

You may be able to find a free manual download at the Brother website for a similar product.
