Monitor shaking problem but dont think its the monitor!

My monitor has been shaking for the past week or so and I cannot get it to stop. I've tried numerous of things.. I updated my video card driver, I checked all the cables to make sure they are not damaged and plugged in correctly, I've changed the resolution on the display, it cant be the wiring in my apartment because all the other computers work perfectly fine. I even tried switching monitors with my roommates' and while it works fine with their computers, it still shakes with mine!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!! I have an Emprex LCD monitor and I've tried using a different one also, a KDS.

If both monitors are shaking, problem is with video card or motherboard, you might try loading specific drivers for your video card or try changib=ng refresh rates.

Try a different CRT monitor on your computer.
Try your CRT monitor on a different computer.
See if the problem "moves" to the other computer,
or whether your computer has problems with *ANY* monitor.

I've had my compaq presario cq61 for about 2-3 years. A while back it would occasionally have a kind of shaky/blinky screen but just in the past week it's like the screen has stopped working.

The problem may be due the graphics card or data cable or backlighting.

The data cable can be severed over time though opening and closing the display. This can be replaced.
The backlighting/inverter dies, some-times the windows desktop screen can be seen if one looks carefully. This can also be replaced.

Try connect your notebook to another computer's monitor via VGA or HDMI out.

If this works then the problem lies with your LCD screen.

Take care!

For the past few weeks my Hanns G 19 inch LCD monitor keeps having troubles displaying a screen. It constantly makes a loud sound that it repeats and it takes several hours before the green light appears...

From the description you give, this sounds like a failure in the circuit board, normally the capacitors go and the thing refuses to power up, however, the fact it defaulted to a low resolution indicates that the actual board is in some way failing, possibly a damaged circuit, or component.

I would think it could be repaired and it may be a simple job for someone who can identify the failing component, however, I think that the cost of getting it repaired would outweigh the cost of replacement

Display on my monitor is shaking. I checked the videocard and even the power supply but it still didn't stop from shaking. I even try to use different monitor but the problem is still there.

Hi,

1. Have you tried replacing your video card? If you have a back up video card use it temporarily and check if the display is still shaking.
2. How did you check your power supply? If you have digital tester then check the output voltage from the power supply connector, the yellow should read 12v and the read is 5v. If the readings is below the said standard volts, then its not stable, and you will need to replace it.
3. Last to check is the cord you are using to connect your monitor to the video card, If you have available, try also replacing this.

Problem with powering the monitor up. It just flicks off.

The operating system would not stop it from powering on.
It should power on even if disconnected from a computer.
You are probably in need of having the powerboard redone. Possibly a failing inverter.
If you know how to take it apart and can get some pictures to me at bammbamm@ptd.net , I may be able to see the problem.

Monitor screen shaking and flickering

Check to make sure the cables are connected tightly. Wiggle the cable, does it get better or worse? Might need a new cable. And reseat the video card inside the computer. If that doesn't fix it, then yes you will probably need a new monitor.

Emachine monitor flickers with horizontal lines

If you have another computer handy....hook the monitor up to it to see if the problem remains, if it does not you might want to focus on the video card.
