Ran system wipe, now laptop won't turn on

I was having issues with uninstalling programs from my laptop, so I backed up the files I wanted to keep and decided to wipe the system with the disks that the laptop came with. I was having issues with the disk, brought the disks and computer to a local Geek Squad, the told me to download the latest Toshiba Bios, so I did. Had issues typing after I installed the new Bios, but put the disks in anyways, it ran fine. The laptop powered off near the end of the run and I can't get it to turn on at all.

Tell me what the machine is doing exactly when you hit the power button. ie... do lights come on, do they flash, does it beep, can you hear the hard drive start, or nothing, just dead.

How to completely erase everything without a secondary key

Wipe it really clean? Like erase Windows and everything?

Do you have the original disks that came with the computer? If you boot from a Windows installation disk, then you can reformat (wipe) the disk before you install. That's a nice clean install. If you want to go a step further, you could repartition the drive with fdisk, then format it.

If you're looking to keep windows, but erase all the programs and files, that's more tedious. Open Control Panel, go to Programs & Features. You'll see a list of installed programs. You can double-click on a program to uninstall it.

To get rid of files, I would suggest creating a new User account for yourself, give yourself Administrator permissions, and then delete your friends account. Then you can look in the Users folder, and if you see your friend's account on a folder, delete it.

Surgically removing is teeedious
Leaving just the os and driversJust find your data folders and start purging but watch out ad remove programs can get sticky so with a backup you can dabble all you want.

Hi there, over the past few weeks my computer keeps warning me that my local disc (C drive) is full. I've deleted all the songs/t.v shows off of my computer but it just keeps filling up. I've tried to...

You don't mention which Operating System you have but you should scan for malware and virus. If you are infected that would explain why the drive keeps filling up and maybe even why your programs won't uninstall or updates complete. Update your AV and boot to safe mode to run the scan or do an online scan if you can, there are few good online scans but one which springs to mind is Also do a scan with free edition of MBAM

Once you have done scans and removed any infection you might have clear your temp files using either Disk Clean-up from All Programs > Accessories > System Tools or a 3rd party disk cleaner if you have one (don't use any registry cleaners). Make sure you clear at least Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files and Recycle Bin.

After doing that turn your system restore off for your C:\ drive then turn it back on again.

Check to see if your updates will install now.

I have low memory and my laptop is slow

Toshiba laptops are not intrinsically slow computers and more often than not a slow computer is caused by a software rather than a hardware problem. Computers get bogged down by running too many processes at once, having the information in the hard drive stored in different parts of the disk (fragmented) and computer virus, worm or spy ware infestations. Of course, sometimes a computer simply doesn't have the hardware to run certain programs or will have a hardware issue that needs to be fixed.

Disk Cleanup

1.Click "Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup" to open the Disk Cleanup program.

2.Select the hard drive that you want to clean up if you have more than one hard drive and then click "Ok" to get started.

3.Wait for the Disk Cleanup tool to calculate how much space it will be able to save by compressing your files. Compressing the files in your hard drive will open up space that in turn helps your computer access information faster.

4.Click the "More Options" tab on the "Disk Cleanup" window that appears and then click the "Clean Up" button within the "Windows Components" section. This will allow you to select what Windows Components you want to disable. Disabling Windows Components will make your computer software by diminishing the programs that are running.

5.Click the "Clean Up" button within the "Installed Programs" section. This will allow you to select what computer programs you no longer wish to have installed on your computer and uninstall them. Uninstall programs that have not been used in a long time such as old video games to speed up your Toshiba laptop.

6.Click the "Clean Up" button with the "System Restore" section. This will delete all but the most recent of your backup files so that you don't have useless backup files taking up space and slowing down your laptop computer.

7.Click the "Disk Cleanup" tab and then select all the files from the "Files to Delete" section that you want to delete. This will delete all those files from your computer making your computer faster by freeing up memory space. Click "Ok" to delete the files and exit Disk Cleanup.

1.Blow pressurized air from a pressurized air can into the Fan slits on the bottom and side of the Toshiba laptop to clear it of dust. A dusty, dirty fan will cause speed issues on your Toshiba laptop.

2.Power off the computer, remove the battery and all external devices and then unscrew all the screws that have a keyboard picture on it.

3.Remove the keyboard from your Toshiba laptop and on the inner, upper, left hand corner, on the side of the monitor, you'll see the fan.

4.Blow pressurized air into the fan to clear the dust and then replace the keyboard, screws, battery, external devices and power the computer back on.

1.Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys on your Toshiba laptop keyboard simultaneously and then select "Start Task Manager."

2.Click the "Processes" tab and take inventory of all the processes running on your computer.

3.Right-click on each process with your Username to the right of the process name and then select "End Process." Do not end processes that are vital to your computer running properly such as explore.exe or processes that don't have your username to the right of the process name.

4.Restart your computer if you end a vital process.

Cannot uninstall samsung pc studio 3 in the programs . on windows 7

The installation files might have been corrupted or some files are missing. Try to reinstall the program to fix these errors then uninstall it. If still same issue exists try using a 3rd party software called "Revo Uninstaller". Just install this program then run it, select the program you want to uninstall and the software will do the rest for you. You can download Revo Uninstaller from here

How do you wipe the compaq presario m2000

I'm not sure if you are wiping it to start over or to sell/give away.

Many newer machines have a Recovery Partition, usually your "D:" drive.

Access the System Recovery partition from the Start-All Programs-System Recovery-System Recovery Menu. Following the prompts will allow you to reformat the computer and reinstall the operating system and all software as it came from the factory. From that point, if you don't want any of the factory junk, you'll need to uninstall it yourself.

If the Recovery partition is missing, (usually a D: drive) , then you'll need to have the original Recovery discs which were created when the computer was new.

If you simply want to wipe it, use a disk wiping tool. Many hard drive wipers, cleaners or shredders can be downloaded at no cost. Visit to search for these programs that are designed to wipe your hard drive. Once you have downloaded a disk wiping program, install it on your computer. Each program will have a unique graphical user interface (GUI) and directions for use. Follow the directions for your selected disk wiping tool and run the program to wipe your hard drive. The program will make sure that all files and data have been completely erased by overwriting the entries multiple times.

I unfortunately have to use quickbooks as well in my personal life & in my professional life. After an exhaustive search I finally found a solution to my problems which are not exactly the same as yours but sound very similar.

It was all down to .Net Framework. I completely removed it from our systems using this I also uninstalled Q.B. Ran a free registry cleaner and reinstalled everything and it worked first time no problems.

Not sure if this will help too much but hopefully should get you on your way.

Cannot uninstall ''IOLO system mechanic pro 7''

sounds awkward I would try burning all your important files to CDs or DVDs to keep them safe and then rolling back changes using system restore- start - all programs-- accessories -- system tools - system restore
from there hopefully you can restore your p.c. to a time before you installed all these programs you wish to remove. Alternatively if you have your Windows install disc (probably not) but if you do then you can install windows again and put your files but from CD/DVD storage. Alternatively you might have a "restore disc" which does a similar state and will restore your laptop to how you bought it.
However I van only advice these "solutions" when you get really desperate, starting over it may take days to get your system how it was before. 1st I would try "system restore" as not all of your documents are affected and you can easily undo the changes you make.
